Nate stared wide eyed at what had just happened to his father. He looked over to his mother who looked similarly shocked. He looked back to his Dad and tried to process what he was seeing. His father flashed them both a broad smile and started to laugh.
“Dad?” Nate asked nervously. “What just happened?”
“The website I told you about...it’s not a photo editing site. It actually changes you into the monster you design!”
Nate’s heart sank and he looked down at his hands and saw his nails already looked thicker and a bit longer.
“Are you kidding me?” exclaimed Nate’s Mom. “You willingly did this to yourself?!”
“Yeah, I did. I thought it’d be fun.” Nate’s Dad turned his attention back to him and smiled. “Looks like you tried it already too, son.”
Nate’s Mom turned to look at him and her jaw dropped. “Oh my god. What have you two done?!”
Nate stood up and walked into the living room to look in the decorative mirror over the fireplace. He was shocked to see his changes had begun as well as his hair began to turn the orange he had selected, with hints of bright red. He tilted his head to the side and saw his ears were already starting to grow to points. He smiled a broad grin and saw his teeth were starting to grow out into fangs as well.
“Well this is just great! My husband and son are turning into literal monsters! What are we supposed to do?” Nate’s Mom was clearly starting to freak out, understandably so.
“Relax honey, it’s only temporary. We’ll both turn back to our old selves.” Nate’s Dad rubbed her shoulder reassuringly.
“I need to check this out.” Nate walked down the hallway to the main bathroom and closed the door. He flicked on the light and checked out his reflection. He watched as the orange fur grew in around his face and down his neck to under his t-shirt. “This is so cool.”
He felt a strange tightness in his chest as his muscles grew and reformed, as well and his back and arm muscles. His t-shirt grew tight until it finally split right down the back, with orange fuzz spilling out. He looked down at his arms and marveled at the thick, soft fur that had grown in and the cool red stripes mixed with the orange. He held up a hand and wiggled his fingers, trying to get used to the extra weight his new, huge and sharp claws brought to each digit.
He looked down to his bare feet and legs, now covered in the same fur, each toe likewise ending in a long, sharp claw. He looked back up to his reflection and watched in awe as two large horns slowly grew out, curving over the top of his head and ending in sharp points. He felt a pressure build in the seat of his shorts until the seam burst and his new tail grew out, covered in the same orange and red fur. He watched as his face slowly grew and changed, pushing outward and becoming more brutish, more wild. He was struggling to close his mouth over his large, sharp fangs that curved outward and looked fierce. Just then his mouth started to push out into a bit of a snout.
It may have taken a while to happen completely, but Nate stood in front of the mirror checking out his new monster self. He let out a bit of a snarl and leaned in close to the mirror, rubbing his hand over his face. The one thing he noticed was that despite all his changes, it was still his human eyes staring back at him as if reminding himself that underneath all the fur and claws and fangs he was still himself.
“This is so cool.” Nate was taken aback at how deeper and more monstrous his voice sounded. He jumped at the sound of a knock on the door.
“Come on! Open up! I’m dying to see you!” said Nate’s Dad. Nate took a deep breath and opened the door. He stood in the doorway as his dad and Mom took it in. “Wow! Way to turn it up to eleven. You look amazing son!”
“Thanks,” Nate turned around letting them take it all in and then turned back to them. “Well, now what do we do?”
