Wait! We have another choice!

added 4 years ago O Mental

** This cuts into the previous story before he decides to drink the normalizing potion.

You realize you need to make a decision, and fast. You bolt for the normalizing potion, take the stopper out and put it to your lips, but stop dead in your tracks as you realize you have until tonight to decide what to do. Yes, the changes seem to be progressing exponentially, but that is probably because your batteries were charged when you went to the magic shop. If you can find a way to not lose your personality and keep the changes mostly physical, you may be able to find a good solution, not just an easy solution.

With a heavy sigh you put the stopper back in the potion, this will mean a lot more work and worry. The most ironic thing about this, you realized, was that your dad's encroaching personality was the thing that stopped your teen impulse to take immediate and drastic action, giving up your childhood.

"I'm not ready to give up and I don't want this gut if I can help it." you said rubbing your belly and craving a mid morning snack. Only after you finished the sundae you made yourself did you realize you were mimicking your dad's stress response.

"DAMN IT!" you cried out in the empty house. Come tomorrow you expect you will be your father's twin. But you are beginning to realize that even if you took the normalizing potion, you'd look like him within a decade anyway.

The normalizing potion is an easy fix, and I'll keep it handy if the other options don't work.... or if they do work... You began pacing and discussing the details and thoughts you had aloud to help you come up with a plan.

"The shop guy said I could continue using the socks and this is happening because I wore the socks too long and Dad was the last person I changed into. It may prolong or worsen the effects but I may have more control if I use the socks to become someone else. If I could get into the locker room and borrow some shoes or get the shoes to me, I may be able to use the socks and become 15 again... or at least a teen." This sounded like a good option but risky... You have no business in a high school as a 30 year old and as far as you know the only people who don't notice your changes seem to be your family and they are all oddly immune to you. Dad isn't becoming grandpa, Timmy isn't becoming Dad too...

This spun a weird side thought.. did Blaine, Chris, or Amelie have a magical artifact to make things seem normal to people? You didn't absorb that property from the socks themselves, and this happened before you went to the magic shop... Of the three. Chris and his father were very similar, Blaine and his father weren't. and Blaine didn't seem to be as concerned as Chris about anyone noticing the sudden changes...

"Another option would be to rely on my battery power. The shopkeeper warned that using communal objects like chairs , or cups. could sway my transformation. Additionally, simply being around the magic items in the shop in my condition could recharge me. These things could explain why the remnants are more drastic today. For all I know the changes could have petered out leaving me at 21..."

"If Colby still has his brother's combat boots those could at least help take me to a leaner, younger, more muscular body...whether hes used them or not. it isn't a permanent solution but its better than losing myself to my dad." You might want to call George and Colby to see if they are back to normal... and if they remember you as a friend.

You become agitated thinking of all the things you may have been doing unknowingly, which could have worsened this condition. You're wearing your Dad's shirt now, you had used seat for breakfast and ice cream and had proudly grabbed the worlds greatest dad coffee mug temporarily forgetting who you are. You take the last few sips from your beer before grabbing another from the fridge. "-Huh?"

You go to the bathroom to splash some waster on your face, before you can though, you notice some gray hair you missed this morning, and you would gauge yourself early to mid thirties rather than just 30... is that new or was it just missed?

"Alright, we're focused... The thrift shop has a multitude of young men's clothing. I could buy several things with my credit card and..." you don't have one of those... "debit card?" No you haven't been working since 16 because you haven't reached 16... "$20 birthday money from my sister-in-.. AUNT!"

"At the very least I should get out of his clothes..." You switched into your largest sweatshirt, which was ill fitting and looked too flashy and childish... "Ugh" You realized your internal monologue was beginning to match your body more and more. You need new clothes and to get out of this place.

"Maybe blasting the signal out in a public setting could help with getting rid of the extra magic? it took 10 or so minutes before the first signs showed on Blaine, 15 before they exploded into a full on transformation. Mildly transforming 20 people uses more energy than fully transforming 1, right? A brisk walk through a sports arena, mall, grocery store, gym, an arcade even. Its really risky, but if I don't divert this magic away from me, I will be replaced by a clone of my father."

With a slew of options before you, you decide what to do.
