Ryan stared at the boy in the mirror. It was him, but not him. He'd been average size, and his features were a little stretched on a larger head. But then he realized they were still changing. His medium brown hair and eyes were both getting darker, turning nearly black as his skin took on a more bronze tone that was not a tan. His nose broadened and his face got a bit flatter, and the shape of his eyes altered. The reflection now looked very Asian, a Chinese boy with big teeth and ears that stuck out from the sides of his head.
A glance down showed that he now had a nearly black foreskin, and what little hair had been left on his body was vanishing. He was Anthony Yu, already a superstar on the courts at 14! But no! He was Ryan, an average guy who had just put on some shoes. The Yu identity kept pushing itself into his head, and it was a struggle to hold onto his own past. Part of it was tempting, but Ryan was afraid of losing himself completely. The pressure got stronger, and he saw his face change back slightly, looking less Chinese, then shift back to full Asian features.
Panicking, he dug at the sneakers and struggled to yank them off. At first, they were too tight, and he started to question why he was trying to remove his shoes. Then the right one pulled free and Ryan remembered what was going on. The pressure in his head eased, but he still looked completely Asian. Concentrating hard, he focused on his reflection and saw his eyes lighten to hazel. If he worked at this, he could probably alter the outcome.
