Megumi said, "You are so cute! Don't grow up. Just stay like you are and be my baby. I will take care of you, forever and ever." I awoke with a start. I found myself wrapped in a blanket on Megumi's lap. We were on the couch in the living room. Obviously, I had been dreaming.
She smiled at me and cooed, "Did I wake you up? I'm sorry."
Then, she picked me up and hugged me, tightly. "Little baby boy, I love you." Despite whatever misgivings that I might have had about being treated like a baby, I felt secure with her.
Just then, Laurel came into the room. "I can see that you two are getting quite well."
"He is the sweetest thing," Megumi replied. "I wish that he was mine."
"Oh, really," Laurel said, laughing. "Well, he is a cutie, isn't he?"
"Do you think that you could hire me to babysit him on a regular basis?" she asked eagerly.
"That is a wonderful idea. As it so happens, I am going to be extremely busy finishing up a project of mine for the next five months. So, you are more than welcome to come over any day to babysit him. In fact, if you want, you can spend the nights on the weekends."
The pit of my stomach sank when I heard Laurel say five months, but at the same time, I felt excited that I was going to get to be taken care by Megumi for so long. Nonetheless, I was more horrified than not. After all, I was going to have to wear diapers for five more months!
