Now the Thor 30 wasn't actually 'theirs' but was a repossessed
cube van with stuff that Suzanne had recovered from
a bankrupt Hollywood film company.
Since legally Suzanne was only empowered to seize the cube
van and not whatever contents were in its box
Suzanne had been shocked and somewhat flustered to discover
when she'd checked that box at
the first rest stop that the Thor easily contained a quarter million dollars of film cameras, lighting and other valuable
gear in it.
Since the cube van itself could probably fetch ten grand at
a auction the contents of the box had been a jaw dropper.
She could be honest about it and notify the authorities
or she could continue on,drop off the valuable film gear at one
of the many contacts she dealt with and pitch up another
fifty grand in the underground market for such stuff.
Nathan was in the rest stop chomping on a burger and fries
completely unawares of what the Thor contained.
As Suzanne looked at her nearly empty purse she realized
she needed that 50 grand rather then a spot later on at
the Pearly Gates.
So quietly Suzanne had closed and locked the back gates to the
Thor and gone back to join Nathan
acting all the while like nothing had come out of the
extra-ordinary.
So the two had gotten back into the Thor 30 and Suzanne had
gotten behind the steering wheel and driven normally enough
on the main road, waiting for her tired banker husband
to fall asleep.
Once he had nodded off to the Land of Nod Suzanne had
promptly backtracked, turned off on Magical Route 66 and
floored the old diesel engine, eager to put distance between
her and any other repo ladies who might be searching for that
film equipment.
