New Arrivals, New Plans

added by makutamon 4 years ago O

With a large number of new arrivals coming in to Animalia in the autumn of 2019, there was a lot of new things going on. Especially since almost all of them were "ex-hippies", as one internet poster called them. While there would be a lot of sympathy toward them for not being familiar with "modern" technology due to dropping out of high school, there were inevitable "hippie prejudice" comments, but these were quickly called out by others before the PR-MD offices could do the same. But there were some things that required their attention.

One such thing was a video where a scientist seemed to inject a sample of Animalia Virus into a mobile phone battery which (after two weeks of "incubation") created a spiderlike creature that proceeded to attack him. While there were some who did try to discredit it, including PETA, the person in the video called them out: "Why are you all getting so worked up over a book advertisement?" With the PR-MD's help, the person explained.

"I'm the one in the video, and the video is an advertisement for a book I myself wrote." The book in question was entitled Infected Connection, and the plot summary was basically where a mobile phone technician finds spiderlike creatures inside a mobile phone battery; and when he finds out his discovery, people go after him to try and kill him. A PR-MD agent posted a book review that read: "It's alright if you're into that kind of thing; but with the right director and main actor you might have a great Hollywood movie and make millions of dollars."

It was also around this time that the first trailer for the first "Perry Platypus" movie would begin showing on television. While it was clear that it wasn't exactly the same as the James Bond movies, there were those who made it clear that "that's the point of the movie!"

One of the things that was doing a surprisingly good job of curbing the number of "preorders" for the Polymelia "mod" for Animalians was a showing of "multidexterity classes" which showed the current 'members' of the 'multidexterity club', as the internet unofficially called it, learning how to do things like read books while writing a paper on the book they're reading at the same time. This did a surprisingly good job of curbing the numbers who would no doubt want multiple arms.

While Kelly, from the "Seven on Four", was a welcome addition to the Cheaper by the Dozens television show, she was the most surprised by what she had gotten into. During the episode that "introduced" her, Raymond Piper (which was seemingly one of the most popular members of the show) was being left, famously or infamously, home alone with Kelly as the "babysitter". While she was excited to meet a real autistic savant, what made the series funnier was the things that Kelly took for granted that were actually revelations to the Pipers.

For example, Raymond tries to cook a frozen pizza for himself and Kelly, but used a cutting board instead of a pizza pan. The end result was best summed up as a "great big giant mess". But what made it even funnier was the way Raymond reacted ("I didn't know the cutting board would melt.") , with Kelly's exasperated reaction making it get into the record books as the funniest sitcom episode ever.

When the episode was over, Kelly was demanding access to the Piper family records. But when she learned more about it, she was much less surprised. But since it boosted the overall ratings to Cheaper by the Dozens by October, she decided to keep up the exasperation for now.

Another thing that generated a lot of comments on the website was the viral video of Sylvia getting "confirmed" as a Bavarian warmblood. While there were enough comments that called the branding "cruel and unusual punishment" for the crime of chronic flirting, a horse expert confirmed that a crowned shield outside the letter "B" was indeed the way that Bavarian warmbloods were identified. There still was some concern, but there was significantly less than originally was.

Meanwhile, WSA was working at getting a new program for all the ex-hippies that were going to be returning to school. While it wasn't as big as some newsmonger websites made them out to be, there were certainly enough to almost double all of the high school classes from freshman to senior. While WSA was certainly capable of having that many new students, there were those who were going to get used to all the new students.
