Jace the Tennis Lad

added by ALionetti 3 years ago AP O

Jace Compton was the first person she thought of to invite over. Jace was 16, and to tell the truth she'd had a crush on the aspiring tennis player for some time now, finding him charming and somewhat dorky. Aria had met him during the course of PE, and he'd taught her how to serve better during tennis. Ever since then the two had had lunch together at school, and while Aria was awkward she'd hoped she could take their relationship to another level. She knew they hadn't known each other long, but she liked and trusted Jace.

Jace had been practicing his tennis serve when he got the text to "come and try out these weird dice. You won't believe it!" He was always up to hang out with Aria, and that she insisted on these dice told him that she found a game she wanted to play with him. He hoped it was something fun and maybe flirtatious. He was too hoping to get with Aria - but he'd been too absorbed in practice and homework lately to really put in the effort.

He took his bike over to her place, and he saw her peeking out from one of the windows - or was that her? She looked...different. Different but still definitely recognizable. He realized how - her teeth had straightened completely! He remembered her anxiety over that and thought she must be happy over this. Parking his bike, Jace came over, knocked and was let in. He was pleasantly surprised to get a full look at her. She was...amazing. What did she do? He suppressed a certain sort of grin, crossing his arms, "Wow, just...wow! Whatever you did I like it!"

"Come on, Jace, it's amazing! You have to try it!" She tugged on his shoulder and he followed along. Did this weird game with the dice somehow result in this? If so he was looking forward to this. He didn't believe much in magic or the paranormal, considering himself an agnostic, but he was open to proof if it really existed.

The dice were themselves a fairly unremarkable thing to him, and he picked the two dice up, considering them in his grip. Not much cue from them what sort of "magic" good or ill was at work. No unusual hot temperatures nor sudden freezing temperatures. He did remember his ghost / paranormal movies well enough to mind those cues. "So I just...toss these, and something happens?"

"Yep, give it a try, if it did this for me, I want to know what it might do for you!" Aria was excited, so extremely excited from the change that had happened to her. She had thought she'd go through high school unremarkable, unnoticed, and mocked for her looks. But now she was given this gift by these dice. Amazing what a nice smile did for your whole outlook.

Jace closed his eyes, breathed and tumbled the dice around in his hands for ten seconds, then tossed them on to the bed. The first die read "Older" and "Macho".

"Well, blast my self esteem eh, you little bastards." He chuckled, thinking the dice were telling him something about his look and general demeanor...and then he started to feel a whole body tingling sensation, starting at the hands and then proceeding up and down through his chest and stomach. He visibly shivered...
