“Good news is that you will all becoming the same creature for the most part and you will not have to move. Once your change happens you can return to society.” Explained the Doctor
“So what is happening to us?” inquired Mike “What monster are we becoming?”
“We call them Hecantoncheires which is a type of monster from Greek Mythology, which had a hundred arms and fifty heads.” Explained the Doctor as the whole Maxwell family eyes widened. “But don’t worry it isn’t that many.”
“But we are going to grow more heads?” inquired Susan not believing what she was saying.
“Yes, normally only a second head and a second pair of arms grows in but three isn't unheard of.” explained the Doctor as he pulled up an image of a man, he looked normal from the waist down but from the waist up everything changed he had two arms on each side of his body and on his shoulders above the shoulder blade area where two heads each one identical to the other.
“We are becoming freaks?” inquired Mary “Like those circus freaks from the 20’s or so?”
“No, but when you change your head will move to one side a new head with all your memories will grow over the other side.” Explained the doctor “one head will control a pair of arms, one arm of each side and while we don’t understand it, it seams that both control the legs with no lag time.
“My family’s history of twins, could this have anything to do with this?” inquired Susan
“It is a possibility, sometimes ancestry can have a factor with what monster a person becomes. If you can trace your ancestry to Scotland you are more likely to become a banshee then a person of Japanese descendant but there was always a chance.” Explained the Doctor “Your husband and youngest daughter are not becoming a Hecantoncheires and is instead becoming Fawns.”
“Not sure which is worse, two heads or a deer person.” said Jennifer looking at her family, she may not be growing a second head but she would be growing fur instead.
“You will have each other that is what all that matters, now I will send the data with you about what to expect with the change and you all should go home.” Explained the Doctor
