Before Amy could pick the first game, she was interrupted by several loud knocks on the door, immediately followed by an adult female’s voice. “Amy, are you in there?”
“Yes, Mom” Amy wearily replied as she got to her feet
“Mom?” Ally gasped. Before she could enquire further, the door opened and an enormous dark-haired woman stepped into the room. Ally guessed that she was about two full heads taller than Amy. She was wearing a black colored business suit and matching dress and high-heeled shoes. On her left shoulder was a duffel bag just large enough for Ally to fit inside.
Ally edged back to the dollhouse door and watched Amy face the woman who evidently was her mother in this world of giants. The woman made a power pose in front of her daughter. “Amelia Wilson, where is your sister?” she demanded.
Amy hesitated for a few seconds before she vaguely pointed at the dollhouse. “She’s in there.”
Ally panicked and ran back into the dollhouse. From inside she heard the woman scold Amy. “I told you before, young lady. You are not to take Allison out of her room without my permission.”
“But Daddy said …” Amy protested.
“Your father is not here, Amelia” her mother interrupted, “any he won’t be back until tomorrow at the earliest. Consider yourself grounded. Now go tell your sister to come out.”
Aly, who had been listening in on the conversation, realized the giant woman was her own mother. She felt a little embarrassed that she ran away. She summoned what little courage she still had and walked out of the dollhouse. She looked up to her mother and called ‘Mom’ at the top of her voice. Ally’s Mother heard the call and immediately spotted her tiny daughter on the floor.
