Todd set the egg down on a towel not a moment too soon. It began to stir and bulge as Gretta reached a fully developed state and began to hatch. Todd paused her aging on the remote and smiled as he heard a little peep emerge from within the egg. Slowly, a tiny muzzle began to poke a hole in the egg shell until the top of the egg cracked. Todd helped the tiny creature within as she pipped and squeaked. The infant anthro crocodile finally slipped free of her egg and fell to the towel covered in amniotic fluid, shell, and goop. She blinked several times, taking in her surroundings, and looked at Todd with a strange half-remembrance. As if she knew him but didn’t know why.
“Hello, baby girl!” Todd smiled. “It’s good to have you back!”
The crocodile squeaked and flailed on her belly. Todd noted that she was bigger now than she had been when he had reduced her. He wondered if messing with her DNA had somehow maximized her physical potential. Coupled with a rapid development and the even perfect temperature applied to her, he quickly raised the remote and scanned her, checking her statistics and running a maximum size projection on the croc.
To his astonishment, he gasped at the results. “Oh my goodness, Gretta, you’re going to be a nice big girl when you’re all grown up.”
He blinked at the screen, dropping the remote, and picked up the ten inch tall crocodile. She cooed happily and began sniffing for food, her little nostrils twitching. Todd noticed she had both eyes now, and while she had certainly retained her memories, she was mentally immature, possessed with the mind of a newborn.
“Well, little miss? What should we do with you?”
