David's POV
I spent the week leading up to the procedure having as much fun as possible. I hung out with my friends, played video games, and watched movies. Amelia on the other hand, kept trying to talk her way out of our situation for the entire week.
I didn't know how to break the news to Stephen and Laura, but I they had to know. Cassie and I invited them over to our house to break the news. Stephen was shocked. "How could your parents do this to you? Are we still going to hang out and be best friends?" Stephen said. "This is such a big shock, but you know we'll always be here for you no matter what. We'll do whatever we can to help you through this." Laura said. I thanked them for their support.
It was now the day of the procedure. Dad drove the family to the lab where we would get the operation done. Amelia tried to make one last attempt to get out of this situation.
"Why can't I swap with Cassie? I'd love to swap with Cassie. I'd love to do this procedure if I get to have Cassie's body forever," Amelia said.
"No, It was your name and David's that were drawn, it is going to be you two that will swap. Unless Cassie wants to volunteer to be you," Dad said.
"No way," Cassie said.
"Alright, so let's just go in and get this over with," Dad said.
We walked in and Amelia and I were taken to separate rooms for some tests. Dr. Thomas took blood samples, x-rays, and ask me some questions about my health.
"I'm sorry it has to be you that has to swap, but you're going to be a pioneer in the world of science," he said.
"I know," I said softly.
After a few more tests, Amelia and I were ready to the procedure. We both lied down on separate operating tables and were injected with an anaesthetic. I fell asleep a few seconds afterward. I knew that when I woke up, I would be in Amelia's body and she'll be in mine.
