You are Charlie Haves, an 18 year old High School of completely zero notoriety. Throughout your years of schooling nothing you had ever done had made you stand out. Your grades were average, so average that they induced neither the praise nor scolding of teachers or parents. You would often get picked late for teams merely because those choosing don't even notice you, and when they do finally notice they would generally just go "And uh... you!" or "Whats your name, you're with me" before proceeding to ignore you more or less afterwards.
While no 'clique' would usually lead to someone being branded an outcast, you have somehow managed to go unnoticed even by them. Granted your remarkableness has some pros, you have a lot more freedom of seating during Lunch as most don't notice or bother to question your presence. Of course there are some places that even someone like you would be noticed as out of place but still, the few extra options and privacy is nice.
You suppose you've just never practically excelled or failed at anything notable. Even your parents tend not to be present beyond token words and supervision due to their work and overall busyness. The fact you didn't do anything practically note worthy growing up probably helped as well.
Yup, you're just a painfully average student. Maybe there are others like you and you just don't notice them, maybe not. Sometimes you're content with this state. But right now as you walk back into school for the first day of the year you feel a growing sense of loneliness as you watch people meet up with friends and assemble into small groups and cliques. Chatting about subjects you sure you don't understand due to how you don't keep up with gossip, not that anyone is in a rush to fill you in anyway.
"Sometimes, I wish I could fit in, in a good way" you mutter to yourself, if only you could fit into one of those groups or cliques. Someone people actually pick or include in conversations and gossip. You shake your head and look around briefly, of course no one noticed your silent please. Sighing you resign yourself to another year of obscurity, maybe you'd get a job in retail and get by through customers by not noticing you.
"So you want to fit in do you?" You are suddenly stopped in your tracks by the voice and woman suddenly in front of you. In your self-loathing you must not have noticed her.
You look at her, black clothing, hair dyed with some purple tips. Seems like some sort of goth. You struggled to reply, not being used to being addressed directly by your peers like this "Uh... yes...", she studies you for a bit before nodding "Follow me" she simply commands before walking away.
Not knowing what else to do you follow her and before you know it the two of your are in a dark empty room of the school. She sits you at one side of a table while she sits at another.
"So I see you feel unincluded, unremarkable... unnoticed." You don't know who she is or how she knows this but you simply not.
"Well allow me to offer you a... solution. A new life... one... in which you have a place in the school..."
Through your fear and shock you manage to blurt out "How... how would you be able to do that.. exactly?"
She doesn't respond, instead simply watches your for a time "Oh I have my ways. Anyway. I have been meaning to try out a little... experiment. I'll give you a new life for a bit, let you try it out for a bit. Then if you want you can stay, or you can change back to your boring self should you find that more appealing. Or even change to another life entirely. I'd be happy to do it, its not like I'm exactly rolling in work right now."
You skirt your eyes to the side, she seems crazy and creepy. This is probably some beginning of year prank, pick on the kid which they don't recognise. She seems to notice your concern and adds "Come on. What do you have to lose."
You sigh as you realise she's right, you don't exactly possess too much to lose and even if it is a prank, well it would be nice to finally get included in something.
"Okay... whatever it is you're up to. Sign me up."
She responds with a devilish smile "Brilliant. Now pick a life, any life.. and lets see if your dreams come true."
You elect to ignore the eerie sing song tone of her voice and instead consider whose life would be interesting to check out. Hypothetically of course, you're still pretty sure its a prank.
