“How are we going to fix this Mary? I don’t want to spend the rest of my life as a cat” Beth complains. Her blonde tail twitches nervously back and forth as they walk. “I don’t know quite yet. We’ll figure something out. But I think we’re only stuck like this for a year not the rest of our lives. At least that’s what the computer said” Mary says calmly. She’s trying her best to keep it together for her friend, but she was terrified herself at the thought of being stuck as a cat. “Doesn’t matter how long it said I don’t want to be a cat” Beth mopes. “It won’t be that bad. Just think of it as a vacation. No need to worry about working, bills, or college. Hell we don’t even need to worry about what to wear” Mary smiles to her friend trying to get her to smile. “You didn’t worry about clothes to begin with since your a nudist” Beth retorts. “Only at home though. And you where curious about the lifestyle too” Mary laughs. Beth quickly changed the subject even though she knew Mary had her on that.“Well what are we going to do about things like food and shelter while we try to fix this” Beth asked. “We can look around the town I suppose. If not we may have to hunt and seek shelter out here” Mary tells her friend. “Hunt? You mean chasing down a mouse and eating don’t you? Beth says in slight disgust. “Well those are our only options” Mary says.
Hours pass as Mary and Beth walk through the woods on the edge of the town. They quickly adapt to walking on all fours and their heighten senses. As evening approaches they both start to get hungry. Walking out of the woods the come to the edge of the small suburban town.
“So what are we going to do about getting home? If we end up being stuck as cats for a year I’d rather not be in some random town” Beth asks her friend as they walk into the neighborhood. “I guess walk back. We don’t have much options. It’s not like we can ride the train back” Mary tells her. “Walk back? That was a three hour train ride” Beth explains. “It’s not like we can’t take our time back. We’ll just be two cats walking through woods and farm land” Mary laughs. “You seem to be enjoying this way to much” Beth says with a smile. “Well I just hope that lab is sealed tight. I don’t want anyone stealing our stuff” Beth continues. “Identity theft is the least of our worries. Plus I’m just trying to stay positive about this so I’ll try to enjoy it as much as I can” Mary says. The smell of someone having a cookout enters their tiny pink noses. “Oh that smells good” Beth says
