Ty's Power

Calling for Help

added by poultry man 5 years ago O

The following day, Ty sat on his bed, feeling stressed. A weight of responsibility had been put on Ty's shoulders with this new power, and he wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with it.
Soon, Ty noticed he hadn't been called downstairs by his foster father yet. If this was them giving him some peace for his birthday, or them simply not wanting to deal with him for a day, Ty didn't know. He hoped that it was the latter and Dustin wouldn't burst into his room anytime soon.
Ty suddenly remembered the events of the last day, and felt intense guilt. Of course, Dustin deserved what he got, but Ty certainly didn't enjoy being the one who inflicted these changes on Dustin. Ty sighed and lifted himself off his bed, deciding he would go to Dustin and apoligize.
Ty exited his room and instantly felt an emptiness in the house. Ty paused, listening for the voices of Mark and June to reach his ears, but he heard nothing. Ty slowly made his way downstairs and looked into the kitchen; on the counter, a note lay undisturbed. Ty approached the counter and picked the note up, instantly recognizing June's crude cursive. It took a moment for Ty to decipher it, but he finally managed to make out, 'We'll be out of the house for they day. Don't cause any trouble'.
Next to the note was a chocolate bar and a booklet about some sort of animal. Assuming these were his presents, Ty took the chocolate bar and made his way to the phone. He believed he needed to tell someone about his power, and who else could he tell other than his closest friend?
After a minute of fumbling with the phone, Ty managed to put the number in and somebody picked up. "This is Gavin, what's up?"
"Gavin," Ty started, "I need you to come over. There's something I really need to tell you."
There was a silent pause, then, "Alright, on my way." Then a ring as the person on the other end hung up.
Ty set the phone down. Gavin, his friend, was definitely not the best person in the world. He was a creep, and seemed to spend too much time on the internet. Ty had met Havin in detention, and simply because of that, they befriended each other, and Ty still seemed to trust him to that day.
Ty sat in the living room, and eventually the doorbell rang. Ty went to the door, unlocked it, and opened it. There stood Gavin, wearing his usual manic grin. "I got a present for you on the way here," he announced, and shoved a small box into Ty's hands. "It's a puzzle I got at a garage sale. Do you like it?"
"Yeah, yeah." Ty set the box on the table as Gavin walked in and seated himself on the couch.
"So, what's up, man? What'd you call me for?" Gavin looked over at Ty. Ty sighed, then hesitatingly described the events of the day prior. Gavin simply nodded when Ty finished. Gavin went silent, a thoughtful look on his face. "Well, I got an idea,,,"
