Derek decided to leave the socks out. He wondered what would happen and who would pick up the socks next. Looking out to make sure no one was looking in his direction, Derek took the socks out of his pocket and placed them in the bin labelled "Trial Socks - For Trying On Shoes". Quickly he mixed them up (but keeping them as a pair) so that it would be completely random who the next person was.
Walking away slightly nervously, he busied himself tidying some shelves close to the bin. Lots of people walked by, a couple of them walking into the shoe department, but none of them reaching into the bin to pull out his socks.
Suddenly, Derek saw a hand pull out the socks. He looked to see who it was...
