Getting Ready for Halloween

added by Alphagor 3 years ago O

With Halloween about a week away and Spookyville going to start sooner than that, everyone was getting ready. Costume preparation can even more time-consuming as an Animalian. Certainly being an Animalian helps with the right costume, though there was plenty of adjustments that had to be made. These weren't things that can be thrown together at the last minute.

A good example was Sophie's costume, which she was working on. She wanted to do something adventurous for her senior year Halloween, in more ways than one. She was going as an aviator for this year, though she didn't look nearly like Amelia Earhart. And it wasn't just because she was a Pterodactylus either. In terms of biplane aviation, this costume was rather impractical, considering they consisted of fur-lined hot pants, a pilot's jacket that left her entire midriff exposed as well as showing off her cleavage, and boots that went up her calves and were adapted for her feet. Of course, it also had a scarf and sunglasses, but it wouldn't have helped with the cold upper air.

"Good thing I don't plan on flying high in this," said Sophie as she looked over the wing slits of her costume. Just then, her phone beeped a reminder. "Oh, time to talk with Heather," said Sophie. She tried to talk with Heather at least once a week. Usually, they had to call ahead to set up a time to get on Skype together. Sophie went over to her computer and turned on Skype.

Soon, Heather's face appeared. Some people would freak out a bit from a tyrannosaur looking right at them. But Heather smiled and said, "Sophie, how's it going?"

"Not bad," said Sophie, "Been working on my costume."

"Wish I could be there to see it in person," said Heather, "You'll have to send me plenty of pics."

"Sure," said Sophie, "What are you going to be doing for Halloween anyways?"

"Well, there are gonna be a lot of kids from Glen Rose coming over for trick-or-treating," said Heather, "And we've got a sort of funhouse set up for them."

"Oh?" asked Sophie, intrigued.

"We're setting it up like a mad scientist's lab, where the nutcases running the place are conducting experiments to create human/dinosaur hybrids," said Heather.

"That's a little on the nose, isn't it?" asked Sophie.

"Well, the difference here is that the saurians are supposed to be savage and feral, roaring at the kids who get close to their cells," said Heather.

"Is that all?" asked Sophie. Before Heather could reply, Sophie said, "No, wait, don't tell me. Let me guess. At one point, the security system seems to fail and the dinosaurs get loose."

"We're not going to force kids to run, especially if they have awkward costumes," said Heather, "There will be golf carts to help them escape the dinosaurs."

"And are you going to be one of those dinosaurs?" asked Sophie.

"Maybe," said Heather, "There's also an adult Halloween party at Saurian Desires."

"Is that the local Meat Market?" asked Sophie.

"It's not as scandalous as the Meat Market," said Heather, "There's some zoning law or something that prohibits outright nudity. But it can be pretty risque over there. It's more like a nightclub than an all-out strip club."

"Does Tyra work there?" asked Sophie.

"Thankfully no," said Heather, "At least not full time. Tyra really is trying to be more wholesome now that she's married again."

"Well, me and Roland might swing over to the party at the Meat Market at one point," said Sophie.

"Are you legally of age yet?" asked Heather suspiciously.

"What? It's not like I was planning on staying," said Sophie.

"Save the wild stuff for next year, when you're a college girl," said Heather.

"Ok, Mom," said Sophie sarcastically.

"Don't call me that. Only my hatchling gets to call me that," said Heather.

"Oh? Are you..." started Sophie.

"No, Syntixisaurus mating season is months away," said Heather, "And unless Pterodactylus mating season is months away, you and Roland behave yourselves."

"Don't worry about us. No rat people in the sewers this time," said Sophie.

"Then what is the big show for Spookyville this year?" asked Heather.

"Dunno, they're keeping it a surprise," said Sophie.

"Well, I hope to hear all about it," said Heather.
