You wanted a strong power. The normal powers only get better through grinding, you wanted something that will be able to make your life better.
Going through the list of special super powers was tedious but eventually you came across the power to absorb features granted by this game from others, excluding backstories. You only had 22 points to spend, and special powers were twice as expensive as normal powers. 2+4+8=14, you could get to third level absorption with 8 points left over, for some kind of support ability.
As you selected more levels of the power you saw the description change, at third level you could absorb up to 3 powers/levels each time you touch a superpowered person for .5 seconds and if you do so continuously for 10 seconds, you gain/steal those powers permanently. Otherwise the abilities fade away within a week and the original super person regains them.
Upon reaching third level, a tree opened up granting additional options like being able to specify the power to take if you know what it is, or being able to choose whether or not the targets loss of power is immediate giving you a chance to get away without a fight, extending your absorption range to a foot from your body so skin to skin contact isn't needed, protecting this power from being stolen, choosing visibility of absorbed powers, and many other nuanced details tweaking your options with your power. unfortunately, each of those cost 16 points, and you only have 8.
Your avatar gained a noticeably purple tint that grew stronger with each level of absorption you took. you noticed there was a small tickbox under each level that when you unchecked it, removed the effect. This explained how some people could have super strength and be enormous while others looked normal.
You can take powers now if you know someone is powered, but unless they show you or they have some obvious deformity because of it, you won't know. So you played with the search-box and found a "sense super" ability listed under defensive powers. Selecting it you had the option to choose which of the 5 senses would alert you or to be notified via 6th sense. You choose visual and decide to boost that to 3rd level as well leaving you with only 2 points. You almost didn't notice but your avatars eyes began glowing so you unchecked the obvious tell to your true nature. You clicked accept, and, felt nothing.
Your avatar had a cute animation and a popup offered to write your backstory, you accepted. Another popup confirmed that you are now super-powered and unlocked more quests which appeared...
You looked at your backstory for a laugh which said, "As Jason Binks was walking home after kindly walking an ill neighbor's dog, unbeknownst to him, a satellite reflected space radiation on him from a neutron star millions of light years away. In that fraction of an instant, his body was forever changed. What powers does he now possess and how will he use them?"
