Any good plan must be sure to be proofed against fools, first and foremost. And second, it must be good enough to not be unraveled by a child. Such a concern - outside of Anna and Tim's thought processes - would indeed prove to be in part the undoing of Tim and Anna's plans. The following days as they settled into a routine and went about work and chores, they mostly forgot the Chronivac in the course of assuming their plans had concluded. Their desires were complete, so they thought.
But as the two children, too often left to their own devices in their toddling years, roamed about and explored the two would see a most curious little thing. The laptop containing the Chronivac, left at their level after Tim bought something on Amazon the prior night. The children were the most susceptible to the Chronivac's tug due to their young age. They had no conception of what it was, what it could do, just that it was oddly...calling to them.
Little Greg thought he saw spectral hands for a second, beckoning him closer. Well, why not, he was an imaginative young boy after all?
Kathy shivered a little, "G-Gweg...? Seems spooky..."
But Greg was already playing with the computer, a smile on his face. He saw the computer light up and go to the program page and start scanning them. He giggled like a child aught to, and looked at the scan results. He and Kathy just sitting there in their onesies, and some odd little squiggly things (numbers and stats) around their pictures. It was like the program was inviting them to do things to those lines and squigglies.
Greg began haphazardly pointing and clicking, and by half accident half odd guidance, he wound up changing his and Kathy's ages to 13.
Both he and Kathy began feeling the phantom sensation of tugging and tingling as age flowed through them again, the work of their parents undone through one afternoon's odd curiosity. Greg grew into an athletic and spry young teen, his clothes changing into a loose red tank top and jeans, his hair turning light brown / dark blond, bushy and wavy, bright blue eyes still curious. His mind quickly caught up to his body and he stretched, "Woah...I think...I think we just got older..."
Kathy was not far behind, turning into an academic young teen with glasses, long hair at the back, a jacket over a skirt, pants, and boots. Her appearance was rather homely, not an early bloomer by any stretch but definitely still growing. She was like Greg in that her hair was light brown and her eyes a lighter shade of blue. She stared at Greg for a moment, "Greg, what did you DO to us? We...we were kids! Now we're..."
"Slightly older kids?" Greg offered, and noted when the changes were done it said "Recommended Changes: Age Progression for Subjects Tim and Anna."
Before Greg could even do anything, Kathy leaped for it and clicked Yes to Recommended Changes. Greg gaped at her and asked, "W-What gives, Kathy?"
"Those were recommended changes, Gregory! If we didn't do them things were gonna get really weird around here really fast. You should be glad mom and dad didn't both come in and see us like this." Kathy crossed her arms and then considered it, the more that she experienced her teen years, the more she liked it. "Though...this is pretty nice. Not being as awkward and...prone to accidents..."
Greg choked down laughter, and then simply nodded in agreement.
Both then started poking around the Chronivac some more, Greg absolutely insisted on giving himself "sick six pack abs", even when Kathy said it'd be weird for a 13 year old to be that developed.
Greg grunted and almost fell over from the muscle aches as he felt his abs sculpt themselves like that. He started climbing back up and glowered when he saw Kathy giving him a satisfied, smug "I told you so!" look. As if SHE knew that doing that would hurt that damn much...
Then the two of them saw a detail inside of their mother's file that immediately caught their attention. "Baby Geoff" was listed as "In Development" inside of their mother's body. Their eyes just about bugged out of their skulls at this detail, and both looked at one another, not sure what to say about it. Neither could decide what to do, so it was time to talk it over;
"Greg, we have a baby brother!"
"Yeah! What do we do?"
"You mean...with the Chronivac?" Kathy shook her head, "I can't BELIEVE you want to...to use the Chronivac on a baby!"
"WE used to be basically babies until we used that freaking machine!" Greg retorted.
Kathy considered that point and nodded, "Point well taken." She considered it, "Well, what do you want to do?"
Greg smiled, "Let's get our little brother out early! Or...Or give ourselves a big brother! This machine can do like anything!" Greg's head was swirling with the possibilities. He just couldn't decide what to do at this point.
Kathy decided to agree to...
