The spell's just getting started.

added 3 years ago A BM Magic Aquatic

Dan ran through the house holding his claw.

"Kat! Kat! Where are you Kat?" he couldn't find her in any room. She really had apparently vanished. He slowed down again and tried to catch his breath. He let go of his claw again and looked at it. Like some kind of lobster claw, he thought.

"Okay, Kat, you've made your point," he said in a loud but calm voice just in case she was still listening somewhere. "I get it, you'd like me to be a better brother and less crabby, hehe," he said with some forced humor. "We can still have that. You don't have to do this." He didn't know if she heard that, but he had to try, just in case.

Dan didn't know how long it had been since it had changed. He was already missing his right hand, since he was right-handed after all. If the transformation stopped here, he supposed he could teach himself to do most things with his left hand, and his claw could still be used for things that he didn't really need fingers for. After a while, he realized it had been a long time since that happened, and he began to imagine that perhaps he had stopped changed. Maybe she was listening after all, he thought.

Unfortunately, his brief moment of hope was interrupted when he felt a pinch at his left side. Something was poking out from there! It was, it was ... another claw! Not nearly as big and round as the first one, but he could wave it and move it around separately from his arm.

"Oh man, oh man, oh man," he thought, wriggling it around. Then another one poked out underneath it, and then one poked out on his right side under his claw. He still had his left hand, but now he also had a giant right lobster claw and three smaller claws poking out of his torso. He moaned as if he were in pain, but he wasn't--he was terrified. He waved his new additions around beside him, feeling almost as if he had just grown some extra arms.

Of course, they weren't arms. These were his new walking legs, which would be carrying his weight around for the rest of his lobster life. Over the next few hours, he would have three more of them to grow, and his human legs would turn into a pair just like them. These were not the only appendages Dan would be gaining, though. For now, the spell allowed the boy to rest and acclimate himself to the mobility of his present additions.

After a few minutes, Dan got to his feet, shaking, and started wandering the house looking for anything he could do to break the curse. He didn't really have any ideas, or any place to start looking. He didn't even believe in magic before he got his first claw. He just wandered aimlessly trying to understand what was happening to him.
