"Dan?!" his mom gasped. "Oh, okay, oh jeeze..." she grasped the squirming cub in her arms and walked forward into the changing room, closing the door behind her. "I'm gonna kill Kat." she muttered.
Sitting down on the stool in the corner of the stall, Andrea stroked her son's tawny fur, enjoying the novel sensation of petting a hefty lion cub even as she pondered what to do next. One witch couldn't just reverse another's spell without unforeseeable complications, so it was always better to address the spell-caster before attempting any changes. Andrea knew all of this from years of experience, so, for now, she was stuck with the problem of leaving the store and getting home with a very large kitten.
Dan snuggled closer, a contented purr emanating from his chest. His eyes drooped as his mother's hand smoothed down his side, and he began to doze in her lap. His fur was the same color his hair had been, with the darker spots of a lion cub scattered throughout. Thin whiskers pushed out of his fuzzy muzzle, and cute, rounded ears twitched atop his head.
Andrea leaned back against the wall and contemplated solutions. Perhaps she could render Dan temporarily invisible? But then she'd have to work out how to making carrying something no one else could see look natural and un-suspicious as she exited the store... and what if he woke and got loose? There'd be an invisible lion cub running around the shop! No, no invisibility... she tapped the fingers of her free hand to her lips.
Ah-Ha! Standing with her changed son in her arms, she turned and focused on the stool. It was always easier to change something than to fabricate an object from nothing. With a quick spell, Andrea turned the stool into an animal crate large enough to hold Dan, adding a bit more magic to reduce it's weight to something she could carry easily. Placing the sleeping cub inside, she was relived when he didn't wake.
Folding the pants he had tried on and returning them to a hanger, she shouldered her purse, picked up the carrier containing her son and exited the changing room calmly. Handing the pants to the thankfully oblivious attendant, Andrea walked toward the exit of the store.
