To Damon’s relief, Cindy hadn’t changed much, though she did seem slightly prettier than before, her eyes bigger and brighter, her hair softer and more vibrant. Below the water, he could make out a long mermaid tail with bright purple scales and yellow highlights that matched her golden hair beautifully.
Jon was another story. Little of the tall high-school boy remained in the new figure. Instead, a gorgeous mermaid had taken his place. Only a small resemblance to his old face remained, his regal nose, his high cheekbones, and his crystal blue eyes. However, even these had been translated into something unmistakably feminine. The long, midnight black hair, softened jaw line, and pouty lips did the rest, leaving Jon just as radiant as his, now her girlfriend. Eyes moving down, Damon caught sight of a bobbing pair of breasts over an hourglass figure that melded with an undulating mermaid tail. All down its tapering length, both dark and electric blue stripes vied for the eye’s attention with the electric blue winning out for the fins.
“What happened to me?” Jon said, her sweet, musical voice tickling the ear. “I’m…”
“Yeah, you’re a mermaid like Cindy,” Damon sighed. “I’m so sorry. I just acted on instinct and did something. Magic, I guess. It must have changed you into this. I didn’t mean to, though. Honest.”
Cindy put her hand on Damon’s shoulder. “It’s alright. We’re alive, thanks to you.” Quickly, she pulled Jon into a hug. “We’ll figure this out, Jon. It’s gonna be okay.”
“Yes, it’s going to be okay because your escape attempt was foiled,” Damon’s mother said. “While I would have killed you, it seems that Scarlett has managed to solve the problem anyway. You are now both mermaids and no longer a threat to our race.”
Damon turned on her in sudden rage. “And that’s supposed to make it better!?” He almost screamed. “You tried to kill my friends!”
“I gave them a choice, and they made it,” the mermaid justified. “I don’t enjoy having to kill humans, especially those you value. But our people’s safety is too important to risk. In any case, this situation has gotten too out of hand. I now have three more mermaids than what I came for, a new grandchild, and a daughter whose magical powers have manifested far sooner than expected. We must return to our home before things get even more complicated.”
Before anyone could react, Damon’s mother grabbed Sarah and cast her magic. The girl cried out in surprise before collapsing into the water. Damon started towards her but realized that his girlfriend was simply becoming like himself. Soon, like Cindy, she had become a bit more beautiful, her face and body losing their flaws. Oddly, her eyes slanted a bit, leaving her with a slightly more exotic look. Then, her tail grew in, taking on a patchy orange, black and white pattern that reminded Damon of a koi fish. Much to his surprise, her hair also followed suit, becoming predominately porcelain white with orange and black streaks.
“Wow!” Damon breathed, unable to help but stare.
“Yes, quite lovely,” His mother nodded. “Now, that is taken care of. Let us be off.”
