With November officially under way, there was something new going on. It was officially time for Animalia's "Hunting Season". For the newest members, especially those who had never considered what that meant, it was a little confusing. Fortunately there was a guide to Hunting Season available at the Great Hall. Officially it was one of the "safety valves" for Animalians, but there were inevitably those who tried to denounce it, but ended up "hurting themselves in their confusion", as one person on the website.

Two that were really looking forward to Hunting Season were Vita and Akia. They were celebrating their first Anniversary with a celebratory hunt. While both of them were a little nervous/unused to hunting deer and/or moose, it was a little bit of a relief that the same hunting property that Clara and Rick had done were able to allow other predator Animalians to do so. During their hunt, they had successfully tag-teamed a "prize-worthy" bull moose. After they got it registered, they got a taxidermist to mount the head as a trophy as well as a brass plaque to commemorate the date. While Akia was a little confused about it, Vita was more then able to explain it.

With Summer officially over, Camp Sun was no longer a summer camp. But it was converted, as it usually was, into a camp for hunters and/or fishers to purchase hunter tags and/or similar things to prevent "illegal poaching". While there was a bit of a line at the place, they were glad for this. Part of this was because there were those who were providing meat for the Thanksgiving Feast for those who were wanting something different than turkey.

There was also a page on the Animalia Website that dealt with showing off the creatures they had successfully hunted. It not only included what species they had caught, but also had the official measurements for "bragging rights". There were those who had hunted different creatures and had mixed results with their hunts.
Case in point for "beginner's luck" was Kiya. She and her adoptive family went on a weekend hunting trip, when she heard (and smelled) something she had never encountered before. As it turned out, it was a massive male turkey. What made it surprising was that not only was it on the high end of "large turkey", it attacked Kiya in a fit of territorialism, but Kiya managed to not only not get seriously hurt, she had successfully broken it's neck in the struggle. After a few laughs, they brought it to Camp Sun for registering, cleaning, and freezing for the Thanksgiving Feast, but not before they took pictures to post on the website. What was probably funny were the comments of surprise from those who were clearly "macho man" hunters.

But what was probably the funniest reaction to "Hunting Season" were the "ex-hippies" that were part of Sargent Bash's "training camp". While there were plenty of mixed reactions, the, seemingly, funniest reactions to the "mandatory hunting exercise" were the herbivore Animalians 'lording it over' those who had chosen to be carnivores. These were used by vegans who tried to win converts to their cause, but they were either called out by internet detectives, or were similar to those that unintentionally showed that their intelligence were lower than other humans.

All together, there were those who were using these for the wrong reasons, either the vegan movement or PETA, but they were neatly dealt with by vigilant internet truth detectives while the PR-MD dealt with the leftovers.
