So Jane made her way to the parking lot where a van of other
Aeyrie folk were already inside waiting for mundale Colins
sister.
Three transport vehicles switcheroos later Jane and the others
were led into the abandoned military bunker they used as their
'lair'
Basically one of the Aeyrie members was a military officer who
had caught the Draekone Virus but survived and never had
told his superiors he wasn't human.
He'd locayed this old WW2 bunker and was the local Aeyries eyes and ears into what the mundanes were up to on the matter
of unkillable folk such as Jane.
So they all entered the bunker and found it had been prepared
for a presentation by a Aeyrie scientist from another country.
The presentation began and the scientist got down to the
questions that Jane and the other dragonkin had a keen interest
in,were they going to earn their wings,their real bats wings
by transforming into monstrous winged sixty foot long serpents
from Hell,or some variant thereof
and also the matter of them being able to take a lot of punishment from multistorey falls.
The foreign scientist introduced himself as a citizen of the
Kingdom of Parax,which was a minor realm north of India.
Basically the King,the Heir and the Prime Minister of Parax
had gotten infected with the Virus,survived and managed to hide
the fact they weren't human anymore from the mundanes.
Which meant Parax was governed by dragonkin.
There was highly secretive and likely illegal research going on in
Parax that had shed some light on the matter of concern to Jane and the other Aeyrie members/
As Jane listened incredulously the Paraxian dragonkin research
explained that Fall Tests had been conducted up to a height of
one mile by dragonkin without fatality.
Broken bones and torn shoulders to be sure,but no fatalities.
Jane didn't need to be a Paraxian researcher to know that such
a ability was impossible if she had a human body,just couldn't happen.
The Paraxian researcher then showed the Secret Society the slow motion regular film of a dragonkin test pilot making a jump
from a height of 1,509 feet.
It showed the obvious,someone hitting the ground hard and just lying there stunned after the impact with the ground.
The Paraxian then put the Infared slow motion film into the
screen.
It showed a glowing red humanoid image of the same test pilot
taking the jump.
All looked normal until the final 1,400 frames of the jump.
about the last one second before impact.
As Jane and the other Aeyrie folk looked the body heat of the
test pilot rose dramatically ove r the first one third of th final
second before 'touchdown'
Then in next third of the high speed frames the subjects form
shifted and altered and lengthed and sprouted what looked lijke wings,a lengthy serpentine tail,a stretching neck and a snouty
horned dragons head made of pure red body heat.
Simply put the test subject had just transformed into what
was clearly a feral flame breathing westen dragon in the infared spectrum.
Jane gazed in astonishment as the final third of that film
showed the test pilot,now a dragon
hit the ground.
Instantly his form began to collapse in on itself till he was human shaped again.
Simply put the test pilot,and Jane and the others
turned into dragons when they were in immediate
danger of a fatal impact.
Not quite the tf of fiction but real enough....
