Now Ty's brother Dustin didn't care a hoot about the mythical creature called a dragon but her did have a keen interest
in shipwrecks and their place in modern history.
So the next morning the two brothers headed out the house and passed
the two 135 year old statues of Grant and Lee that stood at opposite sides of the park before the two brothers
reached the high school.
They shared a joint history class on modern history and the
topic for the last while had been about Fascist Italy's role in
World War Two.
So Dustin was pleasantly surprised and Ty was bored
when Miss Chipps announced that today she had two special guests
a deep sea wreck diver
and
a researcher who specialized in modern naval history.
The lights went off and the video played whilst the deep sea diver explained her side of the mystery.
She'd been doing some multi beam scans of the seafloor
off of the island of Bermuda and the sonar scans had
picked up the image of a intact wreck one thousand feet
down that looked like the wreck of a submarine,but one
that didn't fit the configuration of any German U boat she'd even seen.
The bow of the wreck was BIG like it had lots of torpedo tubes
jockeying for a spot.
So once she and her team had gotten into their deep sea pressure chamber they'd descended to the sea floor and confirmed that she was no German U boat but instead had
the guns and other trimmings from the Fscist Italian Navy
on her.
She had 12 torpedo tubes up at her bow section and it was
clear she was meant to unlease a massive torpedo attack on her
targets,
The divers had swum into her open forward hatch and discovered to their astonishment and excitemrnt that she still
carried 24 Japanese Long Lance torpedos in her,the kind with
a range of 105 miles and with a tonne of
super high explosive Methulene in each one.
The divers were getting even more excited as they realized that
she was a super weapon,capable of delivering the
equivalent of fifty tonnes of TNT in one horrific blast that could
take out the mightiest of the Allies battleships or aircraft carriers.
Clear Il'Duces answer to all the nift super weapons everyone
else was building during WW2.
From the looks of her hatches and crews wallets and spare clothes they found aboard her the divers learned she was
the Dragon.
Her crew had scuttled her to the briny deep at the end of the War
rather then handing over her secrets to the victorious
Allies.
At which point the naval researcher took over the special lesson.
Clearly everyone wanted to know what the Dragon had been up to during the War and it appeared generally not much of anything beyond ferrying Axis spies to Allied beaches.
She didn't actually do what she had been built for,which was to
be the Italian Navys equivalent of Germanys pocket battleship
the Bismark.
However the researcher had gone deeper into the Italian Navy
archives and made a connection to the submarines whereabouts
that could have changed world history bigtime.
It seemed on the days the Allied leaders Roosevelt,Mackenzie
King,Stalin and Churchill had all been gathered on one of
the Allied ships dickering over the post War world
the Dragon had nbeen a mere three miles away from them,her
12 torpedo tubes loaded with Long Lances and ready to blow the four Allied chieftains into Lunar orbit
but alas there'd been a fire control problem and the Dragon
had missed her chance to alter history.
The class began to discuss what their world would have been
like in this alternative reality where Il'Duce got to lord it
over everyone and found the New Roman Empire he always
dreamed about.
All but for a Fire Control short circuit
the Empire was lost.
So Dustin and Ty departed after school was over and Dustin kept
talking about what it would be like if Il'Duce had gotten
the big break the submarine had offered him.
And that night,bored Ty relented and wished the Dragons
Fire Control had actually worked properly that long ago day
on the Atlantic when the four Allied leaders had been in the
submarine Captains sights.
And so it came to be.
The world didn't change immediately or even overnight.
It was some time in the early dawns rays that the impact
of Tys changing history reached
2019.
At first things appeared normal enough for the two brothers
but as they passed the park where the two American Civil Wr
statues of Grant and Lee aught to be
they both immediately noticed that
in that park now stood two heroically
posed statues of the Roman Emperors
Claudius
and
Augustus....
