As the last light of the day slowly faded behind the hills, Jeff returned to the coop determined to not lay any eggs, stopping the transformation. As he settled into the coop, he noticed that all the eggs he had laid were gone, collected by the farmer. He wondered how long it would take her to notice once he stops laying eggs.
As it happened, Jeff would not have to worry about this. Like before, he felt the growing pressure in his cloaca, but instead of pushing out the new egg, he decided to try to hold it in. At first, he seemed to be successful, as the pressure stopped growing, but instead stayed steady. As the minutes ticked by, however, the pressure didn't seem to lessen.
Jeff shifted around uncomfortably, watching as the other hens all settled in and fell asleep for the night. Hours had gone by, and he could still feel the pressure of the egg, unrelenting. He was starting to hurt a little bit trying to hold it in. Eventually, after hours of discomfort, Jeff's willpower broke, and he released the egg. It came out much like the others had before, but this time he felt a massive sense of relief. Exhausted from the effort, Jeff fell asleep.
The next morning, Jeff awoke. He spent a lot of time the previous night worrying about what transformation would befall him if he failed to keep the egg in, but what he got surprised him. He looked over to his neighbor, just rising for the day, and realized that he had to look up to see her head, despite them both standing up! Jeff was now only about two-thirds the height of the other hens, and he now had to drop even farther to reach the bottom of the coop. Instinctively, he flapped his wings to slow the fall.
As he ate the corn that the farmer tossed out that day, he wondered why he was smaller than the others, and how much further this would go. Maybe he was just a very young chicken? He couldn't recall what he set the age value too, or if he left it up to the computer to decide. But then why was he laying eggs? Maybe it would stop after this point. He certainly hoped that this was the last change, as it was starting to get difficult to get food, as the other hens, now towering over him, could muscle him out more easily.
