Emily was shocked, there were two figures in the photo despite only taking a picture of Rick. Before she could get a better look, however, she suddenly felt an intense burst of vertigo as she fell to the floor. She fell onto her arms as the camera dropped to the floor, rolling slightly under the bed. Emily's vision blurred before she was able to see clearly again, but clearly was relative as suddenly everything was a lot less colorful.
"Oh my god." A young girl's voice rose from the other side of the room. Emily looked up to see a 14-ish year old girl, that looked so similar to Rick as to pass for siblings. The girl was cute with curly strawberry blonde hair, braces, and an awkward dress style that made it clear she was in an awkward time in her life. The room had also changed with more pink themes and boyband posters lining the walls. The girl spoke up again as she stared at Emily. "Emily, is that you?"
Emily tried too peak up, but all that came out was a weird grumble. Her heart dropped as she realized what this all meant. She slowly glanced down once more to where the picture had fallen, and there she saw the teen girl Ricki sitting next to a yellow lab. Emily saw that she had paws, and a snout that was hard to ignore.
"Yip!" Emily groaned in frustration. "Bark! Yip bark!" She continued, trying her best to speak to no avail.
"God Emily I'm so sorry." Rick sighed, trying his best to not let his new body's emotions get the best of him as tears started to swell. "It's all my fault, I- I never should have taken us to that stupid yard sale!"
Emily's frustration quickly shifted to pity, and then to sadness. Emily blamed herself, but couldn't even console her boyfriend as she could no longer speak. She felt embarrassed about being nothing more than a naked animal, and even more sad that she couldn't scratch her back as a massive itch arose. She simply walked over to Rick, who had fallen to his knees, and tried her best to cuddle him.
*sniff* "Thanks Emily." Rick sighed before giving her a big hug.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Marion swiftly burst in, still wearing her cute pjs but with her hair tied up in an awkward bun.
"Hey, are you two okay? I thought I heard... barking..." She stopped upon seeing the scene. "Bwahaha! That's priceless. You two look adorable!"
Emily did her best to not growl, while Rick suddenly reasserted his confidence to defend Emily.
"Hey! This isn't funny!" Rick attempted to commandingly yell, but blushed a bit at how whiny it sounded.
"Ha, sorry 'sis' I didn't mean to upset you." She laughed. "Seriously, I know you two are fairly new to this whole reality changing business, but you both gotta relax. Look, we still have the camera right? So as long as we have that, we can basically make as many mistakes as we want!"
"Huh... I guess I never thought of it that way." Rick reluctantly agreed, tugging on his awkwardly high skirt. "I mean, we've been kinda treating it as a race against time, but I suppose that we can relax a tad."
Emily managed a half bark half growl, nudging the camera with her nose before looking up at Rick.
"Oh, sorry Em, didn't mean to belittle your situation." Rick responded as he picked up the camera. "I just meant we need to calm ourselves before we stress out to the max."
"That's the spirit!" Marion added, placing her arm around her new younger sister's shoulder. "we're gonna be fi-" she continued before being interrupted by a sudden loud bang at the door.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"Girls?" A burly voice came. "Are you in there?" He asked again before entering anyway. "Ah, there you are. I've been looking for you two everywhere."
"What's up daddy?" Marion asked with a smile while Rick internally cringed upon realizing he'd have to call this stranger dad.
"You're kidding right?" He rolled his eyes. "Today's the day...
