With that the agrieved wizard made his way from the cottage, leaving the front door deliberately part open as he went.
James' initial reaction was one of relief. He had regained his humanity. He could communicate again. He could move - a bit. After spending several hours as an inanimate amphibian this felt like a significant improvement. But as he looked at his naked form reflected back at him in the mirror opposite, squatting in the most undignified manner imaginable - his legs spread apart fully displaying his manhood, his palms almost seeming glued to the surface of the side table that was still his home - he realised how bad his situation still was. Nobody, under any circumstances, could see him like this!
Remarkably, James didn't feel any discomfort - perhaps a side effect of being almost completely immobile from the neck down. He felt a chill against his uncovered skin from the draft the open door had left him to contend with though. And he was getting hungry. And he kind of needed to pee.
He just hoped that when someone came through the open front door it would be Elspeth and that she would be able to sort out this mess quickly.
