When I was given an opportunity to travel to a new world, I took it.
I mean, who wouldn’t? Well, maybe someone with anchors to their homeworld, family, friends, a really good episodic TV show. I don’t think any of these applied to me.
An exciting new dimension where anything could happen; Alternate history, alternate biology, new technology or rather one that’s very old.
My doppleganger didn’t need to have much of a sales pitch. I’d take her place and she’ll take mine, no backsies.
It was very underwhelming the first few weeks. My alternate’s apartment (which became mine) looked more or less identical. The people were more or less the same. The supermarket stocked these weird purple oranges and polka dot bananas.
But aside from some presidents whose names I didn’t recognize and hair colors I was certain didn’t exist in nature, everything looked more or less the same, boring. No magic, no future technology, nothing exciting.
I almost regretted making my journey, when suddenly everything changed.
