His Name Is Aaron

"That dry-born bastard is called Aaron," Eric said. "That's his name."

Anna was a bit fascinated by that name, it had that distinct aesthetic that she could've sworn it belonged either to a long-forgotten classmate of hers from high school or the name of a character in a video game she played when she was a kid.

"That name of his really doesn't sound too friendly." Anna quipped. "But I do find it interesting that you called him a dry-born bastard while I'm sort of off the hook on that human aspect. I was born on dry land, too."

Eric chuckled and gave Anna a kiss, "Well, you're much different than Aaron. First thing's first, you got the hang of this whole merfolk thing much more easily than him. You're a natural at being a mermaid, Anna."

Anna smiled in pride at that compliment. Eric continued. "Don't let his appearance fool you. He may be more built but he's not a fighter."

Anna looked at Aaron's body and then at Eric's body. She may be biased but she had a preference, "Agreed. Your body is way sexier than his. It definitely feels like you earned it from swimming so much.” Anna cooed as she cuddled up to his chest and kissed it.

Eric smiled at Anna’s words before eventually turning back to look at Aaron with a glare. Anna could tell Eric had something in his mind, and the way Eric had his trident pointed at Aaron didn’t leave much to the imagination of what he wanted to do, but she decided to ask a question anyway.

"What do you plan to do him, Eric?" Anna said.

“I want to finish what I started.” He replied, lining up the tines right at Aaron’s chest.

Anna was a bit shocked at this, “You mean, you tried to kill him with that trident and…”

Eric nodded. “Clia was the one who saved Aaron. She knocked me out with her tail when I rushed towards him. Admittedly, I should’ve waited until he was alone. Now, I don’t see Clia nearby to protect him this time.” Eric said as he lined up his hands, his eyes dead set on his target.

Anna could sense that once Eric flicks his tail, he’s going to kill Aaron with that trident. One voice told her to try and step in. She didn’t know Aaron personally but she did want to know about the other human-turned-merfolk in the ocean like her. Like it or not, Aaron meeting up with Clia was what led to Anna and Eric finding each other.

Another voice told her that it was best to let Eric take his sweet taste of revenge. It would be almost poetic to see a human man who was a lover of a mermaid being slain by a merman who was a lover of a human woman. Maybe she could even try and protect Eric in case this “Clia” tries to bruise Eric again.

A third voice wondered if maybe if it was possible to reach a compromise and have Eric and Aaron hash it out without a pint of blood being shed. Maybe this could lead to Anna meeting Clia and asking her about laying eggs and what goes on after the first day of the cycle - Possibly even getting answers at how she turned into a mermaid in the first place.

She had to think of something.
