A couple of hours later, as Ant asked his son and his friend to clean up the dishes, he went to make a phone call to his twin brother, Vin. It was a Friday night, and he had nothing special planned. He was thinking of going to the movies or something. An all-guys night-out.
As he was talking to his brother on the phone, he heard the laundry downstairs in the family room go off. Being a split-level house since it sits on a hill, the kitchen, living room, and dining room were on the "first floor," which was the ground floor. The laundry room, family room, and garage are "downstairs" from the kitchen, but it's also on the ground floor. Then there is a basement. "Upstairs" from the main floor with the kitchen, are three bedrooms and a bathroom.
But anyway, Anthony heard the laundry buzz downstairs in the family room.
"Oh damn. I didn't even know there was a load of laundry," he said to nobody in particular while still on tue phone.
He went to retrieve it, but noticed the family room was still a hell of a mess! Video games, blankets, pillows, shoes and socks were strewn about the room.
"God dammit! GINO! GET DOWN HERE! I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO PICK UP THIS ROOM!" he yelled up the stairs.
"Oh. Sorry, dad. I'll do it," hr said as he appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Yeah. And get that laundry too, while you're at it."
"Ugh. Fine," said the boy.
"We're going to the movies tonight, so hurry it up."
"Should I help?" asked Charlie. He was a good kid, always offering to help out, even if he didn't really want to.
"No. It's Gino's chore, and I asked him to do it earlier. You can just go to the living room and watch TV," Ant said as he was climbing the stairs.
"Ok, no argument here!" he said as he turned to go.
Anthony got to the top of the stairs as he finished his phone call with Vin. He put his phone in his pocket, and felt a lump in there. Pulling it out, it was that strange medallion.
"Oh yeah. I forgot about this thing," he said to himself as he went into the living room.
"HIKER!" Charlie squealed as the large bear cub-looking bernadoodle came trotting from upstairs.
Charlie ran over to greet the adorable monster of a pup at the foot of the stairs after the big fella came from Gino's room down the steps. Anthony was walking into the living room at the same time the boy and the dog came together at the foot of the steps.
