It took James a full minute, in truth much longer then that to begin to process what had happened to him, well her now. He ran his hands over his sides feeling himself trying to make sure this was real and not some twisted dream. Finally when he admitted to himself it was real he looked around, the wave hadn’t just changed him and everyone else but it had changed the animals and buildings too. A nearby squirrel had saber tooth fangs and a tiny little dragon with fairy like wings sat in a tree like a bird. The buildings themselves had changed as well, those made of stone seamed the least change but a nearby dorm room had changed from being made of concrete to being made from stone. Cars where gone as well, the road full of wooden carts and horses which seamed to have materialized. Even the roads where now cobblestone.
“I need to call Jennifer.” Said James as he reached for cell phone to call his girlfriend but found the phone was gone. His wallet had turned into a large pouch with three large old looking books, spell books and lots of small villas some of which where glowing in the darkness of the pouch. He found a purse in the bag with a money in truth the same amount of money he had on before the change only the dollar bills had changed to gold and silver coins with the amount embedded into them. His driver licenses and school ID still had his name but the photo was of him now and his bank and credit cards seamed to be shimmer with magical energy as well which confused him.
He cursed before he started walking toward his girlfriend’s apartment, he stumbled a bit not used to both heels and having extra weight on his chest. He was cursing as he walked, he knew that Jennifer’s apartment was almost a twenty-minute walk. As he did he kept stumbling in his new heels and he looked around as people stood around shocked.
“God damn what the hell is happening!” yelled centaur who stood in a park with a younger centaur who looked around confused. Finally, he saw the apartment building on top of a rather steep hill.
“Damn I wish I could just fly there!” cursed James as suddenly the black staff which he been using as a walking stick to help him deal with the heels suddenly lifted off the ground and leveled itself. A pair of black shimmering wings appeared at the sides.
“Ok…” said James as he looked at the hoovering staff. “What the hell.”
He slowly got onto the staff, to his amazement it may appeared to be a wooden staff but he felt like he was sitting on a bicycle seat.
“Forward?” inquired James as the staff shot forward gaining some height as he flew forward. He screamed as he flew through the air a lot faster then he could walk, if he had to guess it felt like he was riding a motorcycle. He gripped the front of the broom and found that he could turn it and pushing his hands forward caused it to go faster while pulling back slowed it down. He went slow but within moments he landed outside his girlfriend’s apartment building. The building had become made of stone and there was a lot of fire place smoke stacks some of which had smoke coming out of it. He walked into the lobby to find it hadn’t changed much, however the elevator was now a lot larger and seamed to be hovering in a field of glowing green energy.
“What the hell.” Said James as he stepped into the glowing elevator, there where no buttons. Then he remembered the staff reacted first to voice. “17th floor.”
Then to his amazement he began to rise passing multiple floors before stepping out on Jennifer’s floor, he walked down the now much larger hallways which were made of thick ancient looking wood. Luckily the numbers on the door he paused for a moment thinking about what he would say when he finally knocked on the door.
After a few moments the door opened and what he saw was….
