I suddenly landed on a paged titled "Centipede" and I was a bit confused. I didn't really of them as being big or important, plus they don't have paws so they don't have their print on book like many other arthropods and insects. But I was very curious so decided to check it out anyways. I was fascinated and amazed by the information on the pages of the book, the drawings and the texts were extremely informative. Although the book didn't have the paw print of the animal, it did have a drawing of the whole creature while as the others only shown parts of the animal. I was curious so I put my hand on the drawing. Suddenly, I started to feel weird.
The transformations begin with the feeling of my spine extending, vertebrae forming as my height steadily increases. I can feel new ribs coming into being as well, as my ribcage pursues my ever growing spine. At the same time, my arms and legs begin to thin down, quickly becoming impossibly narrow as my hands and feet shrink into their limbs. “What the hell am I becoming?” I ask aloud as I take note of the rapidly approaching ceiling. My little legs can no longer support my growing frame, and I fall forwards, catching myself first on the wall, before falling sideways and only just managing to get my arms in under me before my face smashes into the floorboards.
"Phew!" I think to myself as I attempt to pick myself off the floor. However, I arrive at a problem; my arms and legs combined are not enough to hold up my entire torso, and most of my still extending body is scrapping on the ground regardless of my efforts. Giving up, I flop on the floor, and as I do so, I feel my pelvis dissolve, fusing my legs parallel to my spine; I guess standing up will be considerably harder from now on... As I finally feel my spine and ribcage stops growing at about 19 feet long, my neck suddenly grows wider as ribs form inside it, catching me unawares. Before I can react, my head is fused forward. I also find my shoulders have vanished, locking my arms at my sides. What next?
A strange sensation suddenly runs down the entire length of my body like two lines, connecting my arms and my legs. With my head fused forwards, I find myself unable to observe any physical changes. Gathering my strength, I drag my body over to the mirror, where I discover the truth of the transformation. Along the entire length of my body, long thin limbs, identical to my arms and legs, are emerging from my flesh, quickly growing to a length of approximately 10 meters. Suddenly, my body started dividing into segments. Realising what this means, I try lifting my body off the ground, and find myself pleasantly surprised when my torso lifts up with ease. Wow, it would appear things are much easier when you have more limbs; many, many more limbs... Glancing down, I notice my shirt hasn’t fared well, several of my pairs of limbs have ripped through my shirt, leaving a line of holes down both sides. If I thought I’d had my fair share of odd sensations for the day, I was about to be taken aback, as all the bones across my body begin shifting, moving to the surface of my skin. It’s one of those feelings that just make you squirm in your own skin. As my ribs reach the surface, they flatten out into cylindrical plates, creating an exoskeleton which also acts as a nice layer of armor. My skin and clothes have already evaporated. I finally realise the meaning of the pattern on the ring, as the top of my new exoskeleton dyes dark browny-red while my underbelly turns cream. . My many limbs experience exactly the same fate as my torso, as the bones in them expand outwards and become hollow, allowing a long tendon to reach the full length of each limb as a small muscle forms at the base of each. As the bone reaches the surface, skin evaporating in the process, the bone turns dark muddy-red, identical in color to my back.
As the transformation rounds to a close, I feel my nose pushing out; dragging my upper lip midway and pushing my eyes to the side of my face; until my face is round and smooth. My lips peal back to reveal my teeth fusing together into multiple larger tooth-like protrusions. As my hair recedes back into my dark red scalp, a pair of pincers emerges from either side of my jaw, curving round in front of me so they touch, a spike pushing out of the tip of both. This is quickly followed by another, larger pair of pincers form around the outside edge of the first pair. Small venom glands form in these larger pincers; something I discover when I clench the muscle in them, causing them to snap together with force, secreting a small amount of venom from the tip of the pincers in the process. This second pair of pincers is a lot more heavy duty than the first; probably for fighting or crushing, and I guess the smaller set would be used for eating and pushing food into my mouth... My nostrils shrink as my nose sinks into my smooth face, until nothing visible is left. For a long moment, I just stand there, expecting my body to shrink to size. Instead, it remains the same, it even grew larger. At the end, I was about 10 meters long and 25 meters long. After the transformation, my mind was faced with two decisions: either escape from here and hide in the forest or wait for someone to come in and help.
