The problem was that Mary's increasing weight was throwing the trucks steering off balance.
Add to that the fact Jeff was speeding at the time, trying to get them both to the cabin before Mary changed further.
So not surprising Jeff lost control of the truck and it flipped over
a few times before coming to a rest deep in a wooded ravine
hidden from any other passerby on the road.
Mary herself was alright, though the shock of the crash seemed
to have triggered a reverse spell in her,so she started to shrink
and lose her dragonish features as her humanity returned.
The upside down truck lay partially submerged in the small
mountain stream at the bottom of the ravine but of Jeff
there was no sign .The windows had been smashed and
clearly he must have been thrown out of the cab whilst
the truck was doing its rolling.
So a worried Mary started scouting about and soon found the
smashed box of vials on a rock in the stream, the potions flowing away with the stream.
Useless to Mary now.
She slowly made her way along the stream and found
her critically injured husband partially in the water
and partially on the streambank, where from the look of Jeff's
crushed chest it was clear he wasn't going to last much longer,so seriously smsashed up was he.
If ever there was a time Mary needed the magics of the vials
it was now.
So she rushed back to the smashed box but by this time any
remaining potions had washed away,to do their devilry to any
wildlife in the stream.
Frantically Mary tried to remember if Jeff had returned the
Red Dragoness potion to the now smashed box and
she remembered he hadn't
he'd placed the vial on the seat beside him in the glove compartment when they'd entered the truck.
So Mary rushed back to the overturned truck and made her way
inside the cab and popped open the glove compartment
where the still intact vial labelled
Red Dragoness lay with the truck papers.
So Mary took it and rushed back to Jeff ,popped open
its cork and poured all of it ( which had magically refilled )
down the throat of her comatose and dying husband.
It took a while for the effects to kick in but as a worried Mary
looked on Jeff began to swell and grow, sprout red scales, wings
lengthening neck and tail as he turned into the creature that
Mary had originally been turning into
a fourty foot long red scaled female feral western flamebreathing dragon.
The beasty lay there,still comatose
but Mary realized to her horror that a reversion of Jeff to his
old human self probably would kill him.
So she returned to the smashed box of vials on the stream rock
and felt around under the water for a intact vial that could
keep Jeff from reverting, knowing if he did his smashed
ribcage and crushed larynx as a human would surely kill him....
