As soon as I got home, your girlfriend had called. You absent-mindedly placed your new purchase on the coffee table in the living room. My girlfriend wanted to come on over, and so I invited her.
We had spent the day with eachother. At one point, I went to go to the bathroom. While there, my girlfriend noticed the new socks I had purchased.
"Hhhmmm....magic socks, eh?" she thought. She snatched them, and placed them in her pocket to take home with her and experiment around a little.
At the end of the day, she drove back home. She still lived with her parents and her little brother as she was finishing up with her college degree. I had already graduated two years earlier, and am now a 25 year old man in the prime of my life, trying to start a career as a teacher. She's 23, and has one more semester to go.
Her parents are both now nearing 50. Her dad is 48, and her mom 45. They had her on the young side. After having their daughter, they had decided to wait before having another kid. They knew they were too young to be raising kids, but they did well by her anyway.
11 years later, they had her little brother, Ender. Yeah, named after the famous novel. It was her favorite book at the time, and she had insisted on naming her baby brother Ender. Her mom, of course, thought that was a great name, ad her father was agreeable enough. And so, Ender it was! Ender is now an 11 year old boy. A month from turning 12.
My girlfriend's name is Elizabeth. She prefers to go by Lizzy or Liz. And my name is Mike. I didn't know she had taken those new socks. Indeed, I had forgotten all about them. I was going on a trip down to Philadelphia to check out a couple of job prospects to start my career. Little did I know, that Liz was having some adventures trying on those socks. She had tried them with her mom's shoes. Her dad's. And even her little brother's. It was creepy to her to have her own father's and brother's bodies. So she had switched back to her own body.
Apparently, she was getting a little bored of those socks, and thought it funny to play a prank on someone. I didn't think it was too funny that she had chosen me!
During my trip to Philly, I was offered a position at a local high school as a US History teacher! If I accepted the offer, I would start next year!
I was excited while driving all the way home. Couldn't wait to tell Liz the great news! I finally got home after a 2 and a half hour drive, and asked her to come on over. She did, and she brought her bag with her.
I broke the news to her, and she was little bit sad.
"Philadelphia? But that's like three hours away!"
"I know. But I dont start until next year. And you'll be graduating here in the spring. You'll be able to move out of your parents' home, and we could move in together."
She was a bit sad, as she would miss her little baby brother. I have to admit, he was a cute kid. Big brown, almond-shaped eyes (not in an Asian kind of way). Dark hair that was usually kept short, and he still managed to make it messy now and then. Always had a permanent tan to him. He almost looked like a little Hispanic boy. He was a lot of fun to be around, I also have to admit. He was a bit short for his age, only being 4'2. Frankly, I love that little dude too. He looked so much like his sister and their mom. Liz and her mom were also short and dark-complected. Well, tan anyway. Each with long, silky black hair. The dad was tall, blond, and handsome.
Well, anyway, after a long drive home, I decided to take a shower and asked Liz to spend the night. She eagerly agreed. I was very tired, and ended up going to bed early.
Unfortunately, I was a sound sleeper. She had taken this opportunity to play her little prank on me.....
