"Chapter 7 looks good. I want you to try it on me." Wally stated. It was an interesting idea, and he wanted to try it out, but it was not possible to cast that spell type on yourself.
Roger grabbed the book and sat down, flipping to chapter seven, and started reading. Meanwhile, Wally looked at the nearest books in the second aisle, which held books from 100 to 139.979. He browsed for a few minutes as Roger read.
"OK. Want to try it? It's an easy spell, but needs a suitable substance to draw the nature from."
Wally checked his pockets, and found an eraser, a pen, some coins, and a metal screw. "Will this do?" Wally asked, holding out the screw.
"Should work. Put it on the table there, please." Roger pointed to a spot on the table, and Wally placed the screw there. "Now get into the pose you want."
Wally shifted, and settled into a comfortable position, his right leg slightly bent, his weight on his left leg, his hands hanging by his sides. His head was tilted forward, and he was looking down his body. "Ready."
Roger stood, and began to chant "Para Stata Uber Noko..." He touched the screw, and it seemed to glow a slight green colour. "Ero Nabi Ruer Yode..." He touched Wally on the shoulder with the same hand, and Wally's skin seemed to tingle, the skin where he was touched tinged green. "Holo Para Stata Uber Noko."
Wally stood, waiting for something to happen. The green tinge to his skin spread down his arm and onto his torso. It spread faster each second, and the green tinge became a faint glow.
The green glow rapidly covered his body from head to toe, and the tingling of his skin became an itch, which grew stronger. He itched all over, and needed to scratch. He tried to scratch, but found his body would not move. He was not even breathing. He watched as the glow got stronger, and suddenly the itching stopped.
Wally watched as his skin became silvery, his clothes hiding his view of his torso and upper legs. His clothes were not changing. He felt content as he stood there, looking down at his body, completely unmoving. The glow faded, and his body was solid metal. He thought it was cool, and stood there, waiting for the spell to finish. It was limited to two minutes.
"How's it feel in there, Wally?" Roger asked. Wally tried to reply, but nothing happened. Roger shrugged. "I guess I'll have to wait until you change back. Anyway, I thought I should tell you I have Spellcasting 101, Basic alchemy, and Astrophysics on my schedule. I have two elective subjects." Wally was doing the same, and figured they would share those classes. "It should wear off in a moment, so I'll just check the book for more spells."
Roger walked back to the table, and sat down, leafing through the book. Wally stood, and waited.
The glow returned to his body, and suddenly he could move again. Strangely, he was living metal at this stage. The feel of his metal body moving was indescribable. Then his skin began to change again, returning to normal. The itching returned, but not so bad, and he idle scratched his arm as the glow began to fade, returning to the shoulder it had started from.
His body back to normal, Wally sat down at the table. "That was great. By the way, I have the same subjects as you."
"Great. Anyway, the other spells in this book are boring, so I think we should try another book."
"Yeah, OK. Maybe we can find a more interesting spell in another book."
They headed back to the aisle, and replaced the book, then decided to...
