While Tom and Alice were attending the City Council meeting on one side of town, Tad, Connor, and Ryan were still having their discussion regarding Connor’s sexuality and his eventual entrance into Were society. Connor had come clean about his feelings to his two friends, telling them how he had no clue which gender he preferred over the other or whether he liked both genders equally. Initially, this revelation came as a bit of a surprise to Tad, as Connor had never shown any signs of being attracted to males when they were younger. However, Tad was still going to support Connor no matter what and help him in any way that he could.
“You know...it feels good to get that stuff off my chest…” Connor said to the two Weres. “I’d been keeping those feelings bottled up inside for so long.”
“I’m glad you told us,” Tad responded. “I may not be interested in males, but I’ll help you in any way that I can.”
“And I’ll do whatever I can to help as well,” Ryan added.
Connor smiled at his friends. “Thanks guys…” he said, pausing for a few seconds before asking, “Now what?”
“What do you mean?” Tad asked.
“I mean, what should I do next?” Connor reiterated.
“Well…” Ryan said. “If I were you, I would share these feelings with your parents. This is something that you really shouldn’t hide from them.”
“My parents?” Connor repeated. “I-I don’t know…”
Tad starts talking. “You can’t leave your parents out of this,” he said. “You really need to let them know how you’re feeling. You said that they’re accepting, so you know that they wouldn’t kick you out of the house just for being queer. Besides, I’m the incredibly slim chance that they do kick you out, you can stay with either me or Ryan.”
Connor looked to Ryan for his input.
“I’ve got to agree with Tad on this one,” Ryan said. “You should definitely tell your parents how you feel. Talking to them now will make it much easier to talk to them when you’ve figured everything out.”
“Yeah...you guys are definitely right,” Connor said. “My parents deserve to know about this.”
Just then, Tad’s phone went off. The young man reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, looking at the text that he had just received.
“That’s my mom,” he said. “She said that dinner is almost ready. I’m going to head home.” He stood up from the bean bag chair he had been sitting in and walked over to the bedroom door.
“See you guys tomorrow,” he said, giving his two friends a casual wave before walking out of the room.
“Bye Tad,” Ryan called.
As Tad left the room, Ryan looked over at Connor and gave him a soft smile.
“Guess it’s just us now, huh?” he said.
“Y-Yeah...I-I guess so…” Connor said with a slight stutter.
