She decided to change "stylist" to see what that would do. At first, she was thinking of replacing it with customer but she thought that was too boring. Then she wondered if Janitor would be a good fit but then she figured that was too far. She just wanted to see if it could change aspects of life and not just bodies.
Finally she decided on changing "Stylist" to "Receptionist" and immediately saw Latisha vanish from her spot.
Amanda looked around, worried that she had done something wrong, but quickly realized everything changed just as she meant it to. Latisha was no longer walking over to her station, but instead was now sitting at Amanda's desk! Her hair was tied into two frizzy buns, she was wearing a pair of reading glasses, and her whole demeanor had changed to seem a bit more modest as she typed away on the computer.
Amanda was still amazed by the apps power, but a thought entered her mind. "Wait... so if Latisha is the receptionist now, then who am I to them?"
She decided to find out by working up the courage to talk to Latisha. She approached the desk with some hesitation in her step, but managed to make it there without chickening out. Latisha glanced up and gave her a warm smile.
"Hello hun, are you here for an appointment?" She asked, apparently non the wiser to her former job or to who Amanda was.
"Um... yeah!" Amanda lied. "It should be under... Amanda Bailey?" She said, unsure of whether or not she even had an appointment there.
Latisha made a few clicks before turning to Amanda with a bigger smile. "Yup, you're all set Ms. Bailey! Rachael in spot 4 will see you as soon as she's finished up with Mrs. Parker."
Amanda, still flabbergasted, managed a quiet head nod before preceding to sit down in the guest area. She didn't work here anymore, but somehow she was able to afford a new hair style? Amanda didn't buy it, she was just getting her life together with this new job! How was she still here.
She opened up her purse and began to rummage through it. Luckily she didn't have to look long before she found something that nearly brought her to tears. It was an ID card from the local high school. Amanda used to dream about being a teacher back in the day, but years of mid 20s partying basically ruined her, and lead to her life being pulled together at 30.
"Oh my god." She thought, connecting the pieces. "This thing alters reality, and must adjust everything to make sense. When Latisha became the receptionist, me being here didn't make sense, so it gave me a reason to be at the studio... by giving me my job and the money to be here!"
She closed the app for a moment and scrolled through her phone, looking at a whole new bunch of pictures she didn't have before. There were different groups of kids over the years, some people who were presumably here other teacher friends, and even some vacation shots that looked like she was having a blast in! She was successful.
"I love this thing!" She internally screamed, nearly letting out some laughter.
She had never meant for any changes she made to be permanent, but she definitely couldn't risk undoing this change.
"Sorry Latisha, you'll just have to get used to being a receptionist." She thought with only a touch of guilt. "I'll change Jenn later too. Now, I won't change me... but this thing is just too good! I gotta see what else it can do!"
Luckily for Amanda, she was currently waiting amongst a group of different people, all unknowingly sitting next to a reality changing source of magic.
