'No not that shirt. That's a boys shirt. Wear this' She was holding up a shiny pink item.
'I can't wear that'
'Why not? I think it looks good on me'
'That's the problem! I'm not you'
'The mirror says different Anna'
'I'm not Anna. You're Anna, I'm Mark'
'No Anna. I'm Jennifer and remember at dinner you have just convinced me to also be a councilor at Summer camp. Now put this top on I won't have you embarrassing me by looking like a slob'
Reluctantly I took the item off her. 'How? How does it go on?'
'Der! It's a singlet top. How do you think it goes on?'
I pulled it over my head.
Mum called again from downstairs 'Girls are you coming?'
'We won't be a minute Mrs K' Anna called out then to me more quietly. 'You will have to change out of your jeans they are too big. Here put these shorts on' she handed me some white shorts.
She was right. My jeans were far to big for me. I took them off, having to take off my runners to do so. I pulled the shorts over my wide hips.
'Socks off as well. Put these sandals on' She handed me some white sandals. At least they didn't have heels.
Now dressed, Anna grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the room and down to the kitchen.
Anna's Dad and her little brother Karl were already sitting at the table.
'Anna will you give me a hand' Mrs K asked.
Anna nodded to me 'Sure Mum' I replied. It was Anna's voice that came out.
'Can you serve out those vegetables' I had to add vegetables to the plates on which Mrs K was placing some sort of meat. Beef by the smell. She addressed Anna 'Jennifer, take the seat beside Bob. (That was Mr K) Would you like a drink?'
'A lemonade would be nice' she said as she sat down'
'You get that Anna. I'll finish here'
I guessed lemonade was in the fridge. Anna was looking at a cupboard as if to say that is where the glasses are. Fortunately they were. I poured two glasses. 'Anyone else need a drink?'
'Thanks Sis' I poured an extra drink for Kurt. Mr & Mrs K already had glasses of wine.
I was the last to sit down
'So Jennifer I remember Anna told me you were heading down to the South Coast. When do you leave?'
'Well. The rest of my family left today. I'm staying behind as I've decided to join Anna at Summer camp instead'
'Oh, That's good. I'm sure Anna will be happy to have a friend along'
'Um. I'm wondering if I could ask a favor. It's just if I went home I would be alone. Would you mind if I stayed here tonight and got a lift with Anna to the bus in the morning?'
'Certainly, You can sleep in Christine's room' Christine was Anna's 20 year old sister she was in Europe for a an extended working holiday.

As dinner finished Anna volunteered to do the dishes but of course Mrs K would have none of that. 'Don't be silly. Anna can clean up while I set you up in Christine's room'
Anna stuck her tongue out at me when no-one else could see, as she disappeared down the hallway. I was left to stack the dishwasher.
When I finished I found her looking through Christine's wardrobe. 'What are you doing?'
'Looking for clothes for me to take to camp. I'm now Christine's size. This bra I have on is really squeezing me'
It wasn't just bra's she took. She packed a suitcase full of Christine's clothes to take to camp. Her reasoning was that Christine was away for another 4 months. Anything left behind was fair game as far as she was concerned. 'Besides it would look strange if I went to camp without a suitcase'
Later Anna made me wear one of her nighties. She did reward me with a kiss but rejected my offer to share her bed. 'No it's all yours. I'm going to sleep in Christine's room. We can't risk Mum finding us in bed together. I'll make it up to you at camp.
At least alone in her room I had the privacy to explore my new body.
