"Did you see where they went?" Laura asked as she lifted up pieces of the junk on the floor.
"No." Kaitlin responded sadly.
"We've got to be careful or- " Laura said as she saw the golden die fall out of the car and onto the ground, stopping on a five.
"Twenty eight years you have walked this Earth, now this number is but Twenty three. Each roll of the dice returns what you have lost." The voice of the dice said as the orbs appeared and were absorbed once again. Another shiver ran through Laura's body as she lost the five years.
"-that." She said, gritting her teeth and picking the offending die back up.
"Got it!" Kaitlin said as she stood up triumphantly, holding her die very firmly. The smile on her face died when she saw what Laura looked like.
"Did your's fall out of the car or something? What are you now? Early twenties?" She asks, her face concerned.
"Didn't you hear what they said?" Laura asked, tears beginning to form in her eyes.
"No, I was pretty focused on keeping mine from rolling..." Kaitlin admitted, a sheepish look on her face.
"I'm Twenty three now! If I end up with a high roll again, I'm stuck as a teenager!!! And if it happens after that..." She says as her face fell.
"Get back in the car. We need to get there as quickly as possible." Kaitlin said, a determined look setting on her face as she got into the drivers' seat.
"Alright. Just make sure to put them in the box." Laura said as she put hers in the box.
"Already did it." Kaitlin responded as they got back on the road.
