You stop rifling through the pile when you spot a beautiful patterned dress. The fabric is blue and it has finely-detailed cranes scattered about it, their wings spread in flight. It looks interesting enough that you pull it out of the pile. Letting it unfurl, you realize it's one of those Japanese types of dresses.
"Um... oh, a kimono," you say to yourself when you remember the word. You've heard your sister talk about these. You're not really an anime fan, but you often hear her talk about the ones she watches. She asked your parents for money to buy a kimono like one of the characters from one of the shows. You didn't care to remember the details. Now you almost wish you had. Knowing more about your sister's interests might help you be accepted by her and her friends.
She'd probably love this, you think. You decide to take it. Nearby you find a bundle of folded pink silk that you recognize is the fabric that you're supposed to tie around your waist to hold the kimono together. When you unwrap it, a folded paper fan falls out and lands on the floor. You bend down to pick it up and notice in a box underneath the table there are a pair of traditional wooden shoes and white two-toed socks.
Now you're sure you have everything for the basic outfit. You turn to head back home, but freeze after taking just one step. Your sister is home prepping for the sleepover. You can't risk getting caught with these clothes. You'll have to put your entire disguise together before showing up.
