A 0ld English Sheep dog sniffing at a near by lamp post watches two teenage boys wander pass looking a bit lost. Able to smell the drunkenness of the pair the dog wrinkles his nose with disdain. Lifting a leg the canine male relieves himself as if commenting on humans in general as the sounds and scents of the two humans fade into the distance. Soon joined by a German shepherd dog the two canines wag tails and simply seem to pant for moments. “Ok the coast seems to be clear of humans now.”
“That last pair stunk!”
“Hah! Just be glad your not part of the normal canine patrolling Dave.”
The sheep dog gives a canine laugh at hearing this reply pausing to scratch with a hind leg. “Ok you got a point there Bill. Your unit has it harder then mine I will give you that. But lets bark the single so we can go back home.”
“Sounds good to me. Those puppies better be ready to move as I do not fancy standing out in the street all night.”
The two dogs give a soft bark that can not be heard by normal human ears then wait. Moments later they are joined by a black and white malamute bitch that wastes no time in giving each male a nip. This causes all three dogs to become involved in a few moments of rough housing with much barking and tail wagging. It’s only when the malamute finds herself pinned by the pair of males that things settle down.
“You do understand that it would be better to get home before starting any play right?” Bill and Dave both ask the wiggling female as she tries to win free of them.
“What’s going on here you three?”
Tensing Bill and Dave sight their serge showing fang as he stands beside them in full mastiff form.
“She bit us.”
“She did. And we did nothing not even trying to show dominance over her.”
Growling softly Steve the mastiff ignores his male pack mates for the moment as he moves forward to sniff at the bitch. “Ruth? You going feral on us? Now is not the time for play. These streets will be filling with humans soon and you do not want to be here when that happens.”
“That human done cleaning up inside the vet hospital yet?” asks Dave now nervously licking his nose while staring at the back door of the dog kennel section of the hospital.
“They will be out in a few seconds.” Steve says while prodding Ruth with a fore paw. “We do not have time for this dog.”
“What do you mean they? Jack was the only human in our team...” Bill starts to say till a look from his leader causes him to trail off.
