The stop went by quickly and despite herself Laura found hanging out with Dana to be fun. Maybe it was just the girl's endless enthusiasm rubbing off. But in the end Laura's fears proved to be correct.
When the groups once again moved back towards the buses Laura went to use the restroom. As she went to open the door it flew open and Laura was knocked off her feet. She heard as the dice case fell from her pocket and spilled open. Laura grabbed them and brushed off the apologetic women who had triggered this new misfortune. Just as she locked herself in a stall she hear that voice.
"Eighteen years you have walked this Earth, now this number is but thirteen, each roll of the dice shall restore more of what you have lost."
Laura gulped as the changes took effect. Soon a petite barely teenager stood wearing what looked to be her big sister's clothes. Laura had little time to process this as she used the toilet then rushed to find a place with her new age group. One of the chaperones took notice of her this time.
"Hey sweetheart what are you wearing?"
Feeling like a child caught misbehaving, Laura blushed and stammered out, "Well I spilled a drink on myself but didn't have any other clothes with me, so an older girl let me borrow these."
"Well that was very nice of her but those probably won't be comfortable for the bus and you won't have time to change once we get going. So how about I get you something your size in the gift shop and you let your parents know to pay me back once we get home?"
"Ok, thank you very much!"
Laura felt bad taking advantage of this teacher knowing he wouldn't be getting paid back, but trying to find her imaginary luggage later wouldn't go over well. She followed the teacher into the gift shop and picked out some clothes that looked about her new size.
After the teacher paid she returned to the bathroom and put on her new outfit consisting of beige cargo pants and a t-shirt depicting a polar bear. She was stuck with her now large shoes and found her underwear far too large to wear any longer. She bundled the old clothes up and the teacher told her to find the owner at the next stop and to head for the bus.
There she found a new seat and seat mate. Before introducing herself she wondered what Dana would make of her new best friend vanishing.
The boy next to her sneered, "What's up with your clothes weirdo did you have an accident?"
Laura gave her cover story and it appeared to not convince the boy in the slightest. He continued to mock her until he eventually seemed to get bored. Laura definitely missed Dana's endless chatter now.
