In the end no one raised their hand it was a stressful day as Lisa called her parents and through tears explained that she had come down with the flu and was becoming a Monster. That was hard to watch, as Lisa cried into her phone as the rest of the house watched and provided as much help as they could. Then they tried to go around as normally as they could.
Lisa cried a lot as the rest of the house gave her as much support as they could, none of them where really concerned with preventing infection now. The odds where so against them that it was better to provide emotional support to their friend and when the time came to each other.
The President addressed the nation and announced the change in the rate of infection and that the government was changing it’s focus from preventing infection to helping those who had changed. Those who where still human where to put themselves into quarantine to prolong their time as human in case of a breakthrough to prevent the spread of the virus but those who where now monsters where free to make sure that society kept functioning. That the power remained on and that food was delivered.
All six girls sat and watch the address and then over the following hours the riots which broke out in major cities across the nation. Some religious leaders saw this as the end of times and wanted to kill anyone who was infected. They claimed that those infected where no longer human and therefor it was fine to kill them on mass, what scared all the girls was that so many seamed to agree with them. Others blamed this minority group or another minority group, anyone and everyone was blamed as people tried to find someone to blame and maybe find a way to remain human.
The women watched the news showing major cities burning as people rioted in the streets of major cities across the nation and the world. Military forces in full bio-hazard gear where brought in to support local police in restoring order. When a police car rushed past their window sirens blaring caused all of them to worry that maybe their small town would fall into rioting, but everything remained quiet. Still nightfall found their town seemly to be quiet.
“Doesn’t the changes come at night?” inquired Lisa as everyone prepared for bed.
“Mostly, but it doesn’t have to.” confirmed Rose “Goodnight…and good luck.”
“Same to you all.” stated Taylor as they all headed to bed, wondering what the morning would bring.
