"DON'T!-" Phillip reached in but it was too late. The door behind me closed and suddenly, vines wrapped around the handles. "Don't close the door" Phillip sighed.
"What happened?" I asked. I look around and there seems to be a gloomy atmosphere inside the locker room. If it's not that, then maybe it's the purplish smoke permeating at the floor. "Where's Kyle?"
"He's over there trying to contain the haze," Jessica said. At the corner was Kyle spreading his seeds around with plants forming at contact with the floor. The plant would grow and suck some of the smoke before crumbling into brown brittle dust. By the looks of it, he's doing it for a while now. He's pink all over and he's perspiring a lot.
"What happened? What's with the smoke and plants at the door?"
"If you have a single semblance of common sense then you'll realize that my hands are full right now Caulfield." Jessica has both of her glowing arms reached out and sending a healing aura on all of us. And with me added to the picture, she's struggling as much as Kyle. "If you want to know, ask that asshole with a psycho girlfriend."
"She's not crazy! Just misunderstood."
"What part of locking us in the locker room with hypnotic drugs is misunderstood?"
It turns out, today was Philip and Diane's anniversary. They planned on taking a nice little dinner at Uptown but somewhere over the day, Philip forgot. One thing led to another and Diane saw Philip and Jesicca alone in the bathroom. She misinterpreted it as an affair and she used her chlorokinesis to lock them in the bathroom. People could get in but they'd get locked as soon as they enter. To make it worse, she made her vines release her signature 3-day-knock-out spores which have already knocked out Jerry and Tom from their department's team. Kyle is struggling to keep the spores with his chlorokinesis and Jessica looks like she won't hold out for long either. Phillip is just staring at his phone, waiting for the department security to arrive with pyrokinetic students and burn the plants down.
"Why don't you dump her?" I suggested. Diane's attitude is poisoning him more than her spores. Being with a girl like that is just going to kill him slowly from the inside.
"You want me to what!?" Phillip said.
"Josh is right. Dump that bitch down. We told you she's crazy."
I walked to where Kyle is and checked him over. He's sitting by the bench now and his throws are getting weaker and weaker. I told him to make the seeds while I throw them. But eventually, Kyle gave in and he slouched back on the floor.
"Kyle's down!" I screamed. And by the looks of it, Jessica is going down the same road. "Just dump her man!"
"Dump her!" Jessica screamed too. "Cause I swear to god, I don't know what I'll do to you if don't."
"Okay!" Phillip called Diane and she immediately answered back. "Diane. Baby," The phone is not on speaker but the shrill coming out of it sounds like it does. "Baby calm down. Babe, I want to tell you that I'm dumping you. Yes, I'm dumping you. No- it's not because I'm cheating behind you. Jessica and I are just friends."
There was silence for once followed by the ugliest cry I've ever heard.
"No- Baby. It's not you, it's me. It's all my fault baby. I think it's just time we need to see other people you know?"
Just as the phone hung up, the vines barring the door crumble into dust. The spores dissipated but Tom, Jerry, and Kyle aren't waking up. Jessica tried using her empowered healing on them but they wouldn't even bother to groan. They're knocked out for three days straight. Phillip says there's no antidote and the only way for them to wake up is to let the spores flush out of their system.
"I'm so gonna fucking kill you, Philip Abrams!" Jessica choked Philip on their way to the clinic. I was carrying Kyle, Jessica carried Jerry and Phillip has Tom on his shoulders.
"I already said I'm sorry. I didn't know Diane would do that."
"Your sorry ain't worth shit and you know that. Three of our teammates are knocked out by your psychotic girlfriend. We need at least three, THREE!, members to join the obstacle race and I don't suppose Josh will fill in a post seeing that he's powerless."
"I'm not powerless. I just don't who it beca-"
"Say your reason to someone that cares." Jessica sighed. "Sorry if I'm being so cranky right now. I'm just so frustrated right now."
Well, I do understand. Kyle said that they've been practicing for a month now and it sucks that everything is going down the drain due to a simple misunderstanding. Jessica is hit by most of it. Ever since I met her, I knew that she's competitive and she hated losing. She would hate it more if she lost without even giving a fight.
When we reached the clinic, we placed the three unconscious bodies on the bed and called in their parents. We also notified Mrs. Maheshwaren, Diane's grandmother and the University's Guidance Counselor, about everything that happened. She apologized profusely and assured us on the phone that everything will be fixed. Jessica's on a stretcher getting her vitals checked while Phillip is crying on the phone trying to contact Diane again. I can't stand seeing them like this. I could do something and I-
