Laura said nothing as she now looked at the newly minted middle school girl. Once again the lots had reduced a grown woman into a child of 12. Unlike Laura though, Hannah appeared unfazed by her changes.
"Grandma are okay," Annette asked, somewhat stunned to find her grandmother was now her age. Hannah beamed at her granddaughter, adjusting her ill fitting clothes. "Well aside from not being tall enough to reach the pedals anymore I'm good," she smiled.
"Can I get you anything," Laura offered, feeling somewhat absurd. Hannah could only shrug as she peered into the backseat. "Well you have some extra clothes that would be great."
Laura quickly went to work, digging a pair of jeans and a shirt for the preteen Hannah. Quickly the grown down grandma jumped in changing quickly and emerging from the backseat. Childish feelings of envy clouded Laura's mind as she gazed at the girl. Hannah was a natural beauty with wide emerald green eyes and dark hair. Although slightly shorter than Laura she possessed slightly flared hips and softball sized breasts that made Laura her non existent chest in embarrassment. "You never had an awkward age did you," Laura grumbled.
"Never really thought about it," Hannah mused. "To be honest though didnt exactly have the easiest childhood. Too many adults frowned on me for being so energetic. They used to say it was unlady like."
"Why would they do that grandma," Annette asked.
"It was a different time sweetie," Hannah said warmly. "I was always a bit of a tomboy in my day. I'd rather run and play than do the types of things girls usually did."
Hannah examined herself in the drivers mirror, smiling at the youthful reflection mirrored back. "Well as long as I'm this young I might as well enjoy."
Laura's jaw dropped as she now watched Annette and Hannah laugh and run. As much as she hated being reduced to a child, it appeared Hannah was happily embracing it. The only problem now was, what would happen if the dice rolled again.
Both dice were now linked to Hannah. If they were to roll big enough would Hannah be wiped out of existence? Laura sighed, she couldn't let that happen. Grabbing one of the dice she now squeezed it in her hand, hoping that one of them would bond to her.
"Laura what are you doing," Hannah asked.
"Hannah I cant let you be responsible for both dice," she said. "Its my fault you ended up like this. If the dice roll too big, you could..."
"Laura it's okay," she said. "I mean your not connected anymore. You dont have to worry about becoming any younger than you are right now."
Laura wouldn't listen. Despite having only known Hannah and Annette for less than a day, she realized they were good people. Yes she had been happy to finally not have to worry about the dice rolling her back through childhood but she couldn't let Hannah bear all the burden. Opening her eyes Laura now slowly gazed at one of the dice. She could tell it had bonded with her once more.
"Looks like we both have to worry about the dice now Hannah," she said.
"Thank you," Hannah said quietly. "But you didnt have to do that."
"It just makes sense," Laura shrugged. "If only one of us has the dice than any roll could make us too young. Thisbwaybwe have a few chances."
Hannah furrowed her brow, gazing curiously at Laura before smirking. "You are way too serious for a kid your age."
Laura chuckled, feeling a bit of levity for the first time since this whole thing began. As the three now began to journey towards the Magic Shop once more Laura realized something, the three of them were indistinguishable from actual kids and Laura realized that for now she was okay with that.
