Once again Laura finds herself looking to a window for hope. Whoever was responsible for closing this daycare not only forgot to lock a door but also left a window wide open. Once Laura get s herself out of this situation she would have to find a way to repay the incompetent employee.
Whiping tears out of her eyes, Laura begins the arduous task of pushing a chair over to the window. Her tiny muscles ache from effort, but this effort proves much more successful than the door.
Laura scrambles up the chair and out the window. She initially is elated to be out before realizing just how large the world now was even compared to when she was four. The darkness of the night that arrived during her nap only heightens the tension she feels. Now Laura finds herself almost relieved the window is once again out of reach, fearing she may crawl back inside given the opportunity.
"It's ok. Once you get to the magic shop everything will be back to normal," she intends to say that outland but finds the words blocked by her pacifier. The fact she was thinking of it as "her pacifier" gives her the push she needed to start moving again.
