“Yeah, I guess I can see them as a thing,” Tad admitted, thinking of Connor and Ryan. “But it’s not something that I want to force on them like it’s expected.”
“I totally agree,” Amy said. "Besides, has Connor said he wants to be a werewildcat like Ryan?"
"No, but he hasn't ruled it out yet either. Last I heard on the subject, the only thing for sure is that he doesn't want to become a large were like us wolves, because Connor did mention something about still being able to stay dressed even when he was displaying his fursona."
"Bashful, huh?"
"I guess," replied Tad, wondering how to approach what he wanted to say next.
But Amy Howler sensed his hesitation and asked, "Something on your mind?"
"Well..." began Tad, trying not to blush. "If it's any of my business, did everything go okay at the doctor? You seem fine to me. Great, actually."
"I'm wonderful. Especially with you," Amy added with a smile. "It's just that, ever since we started dating, my mom's been... Truthfully, I don't know how exactly to describe it."
"What do you mean?" asked Tad.
"Well... we're both 18, and she likes you and has no problem with the two of us dating, but I suspect it's the typical over protectiveness some mothers experience. You know, things like 'Don't make any commitments or long range plans for your life until after you've graduated high school, let alone finished college and have your career on track.' Things like that."
"Well, I hope both you and your parents realize that my intentions are honorable. I'll admit, I don't know what my long range objectives are after finishing high school, but that doesn't mean I don't have feelings for you."
"I know. I also know you're awfully cute when you blush," Amy said, leaning closer to give Tad a peck on one now reddish cheek.
"But you know how parents worry," Amy continued, stepping back. "I've been on my werewolf birth control pill since I hit puberty and approached my first transformation. But I've never had a steady beau before you, let alone one that—"
Then she stopped talking.
"One that what?" asked Tad.
"Well," began Amy, doing her best not to blush now. "How do you feel about me someday becoming Mrs. Amy Decker?"
"I—" as Tad's eyes grew wide at the thought.
When no other words came out of his mouth, Amy said, "Tad? Tad? You okay?"
"What? Oh yeah," he said, coming back from wherever his mind briefly drifted. "Frankly, I'm not against the idea," admitted Tad, moving closer to hug her. "My mom would certainly approve, and I like to think my dad would agree too if he was still with us. Yet they would certainly be like your parents and want us to finish high school and college before taking such a big step. However..." Tad said, turning his head to whisper in Amy's ear.
"While it is definitely too soon to ask for your hand, let alone make such a major commitment, there's no one else I'd want to spend the rest of my life with," before he kissed her fully on the lips.
Tad and Amy stood there, hugging and lovingly kissing each other until the bus arrived to take them to school.
