The truck pulled up to the back of the ‘Kennel for a Day’ building. Dr Jenkins soon realised where he was as he was taken inside the large complex. Inside the air was filled with the sounds and smells of dozens, perhaps even hundreds of dogs.
Jenkins had only visited this place once or twice, but he was still well-aware of what went on here. This branch of the Zoo tried to maintain two of every breed of dog: one male, one female. There was apparently quite a large turnover of animals as they were sold at bargain prices to prospective dog owners.
The Kennels also had an extensive breeding programme, which was visually confirmed by the large numbers of pregnant bitches that were dotted throughout the complex. He noticed that the two members of each breed were housed together, thus maximising the chances that they would successfully mate with each other.
With all of this in mind, Dr Jenkins was panicking as he contemplated his fate. He didn’t want to wind up as some mangy dog!
These thoughts continued to haunt the doctor as he was led into a small office room.
“Hello Dr Jenkins” the pretty woman behind the desk said. “I’m Mrs Adams, and I shall be taking care of you during your stay at Kennel for a Day.” Jenkins tried to speak, but his words were muffled by a gag in his mouth. “I’m sure that you will come to enjoy your stay, especially once we give you this…”
Without warning, Jenkins was injected with a light brown fluid. Although he didn’t recognise it, Jenkins was quickly able to deduce what it was. His suspicions were confirmed when he felt a few slight changes gripping his body. They must have stolen his own formula and used it to make some kind of dog serum!
Mrs Adams smiled as the doctor’s eyes widened in terror, already knowing what was in store for him. “Right then dearie, time for you to begin your new life as a…”
