Elspeth opened her mouth to say something else, but was promptly cut off by the sound of four sharp knocks against her door. “Ah,” Elspeth quipped. “I wonder who that could be.” As she said this last part, she cast James a knowing and mischievous smirk. James had very little time to get a hold on the situation, as for someone who had only just been told he had been cursed to turn into an object when in the line of sight of another person, his mind wasn’t fully focused on the present.
His brain raced back to reality, however, and he began to panic, albeit in a frozen and shocked state. He had so many questions, whether or not Elspeth had assured him that they would be “soon” answered. Would it be painful? Would he be able to move? Would he be able to speak? How long until after they left would he be turned back to normal? He was able to surmise an answer to one or two of these inquiries, but not all of them.
Coupled with the inability to find his voice in the moment along with Elspeth already heading for the door, James could do little else but remain in place, dreading what would come next. As Elspeth opened the entrance of her home to the visitor, James could barely let out so much as a gasp as he turned into.....
