John sighed and said "I really screwed up didn't I? Who knew one glass of punch could-"
Cindy said "Hon, we know you weren't in the right mind. Together we-" and suddenly the world went still.
John sighed once more knowing what she'd do next and said to herself "Alright that wasn't quite enough power... Don't worry though guys this nightmare will be over long before it ever started. Alright time to go back and not drink that punch... I should be able to put myself back and..." John's surroundings warped as her place in space and time shifted back to the moment she had a glass of punch in her hand. She hadn't drunk from the cup yet and decided to just leave it there.
In her mind there was a single voice from her god "Do you really want to run away from consequences?"
John sighed getting tired and said "Yes Lord chronos, that displ-"
"That display brought in a lot more believers of my existence. However your actions now give me a better idea. Why don't I start earlier now?"
"Wait..." Chronos had actually talked to the other gods, and decided to make a plan for Priestesses. They would be born instead of granted gifts making them seem more mystic. John felt kind of odd his consciousness being the only one used to being shifted in time... It was so dark and yet so warm and comforting...
A young Dolly's voice muffled said "Mommy! Did you find out if I'm getting a sister?!?"... it was so odd hearing her sister so happy and excited. It had been so long.
Cindy's voice said "Yes I did. Was the strangest thing, they thought it was going to be a boy last time, but now they think she'll be a girl."
Chronos spoke clearly in John's mind "Feel free to take your time, and make people believe my sweet priestess." John's brain was very young and having a hard time... keeping everything in place... her friends, her family, everything seemed to drift away...
About 16 years later Jane was distracted... Something odd in space time. Silky asked "You alright Jane, have something on your mind?"
Jane said "I'm not sure I can explain it... humanity doesn't really have words for things I see sometimes... but... they're like flashes. Brief snapshots in some alternate time... or maybe a past time... some time that came before our time."
Silky sighed and said "Yep, I can't understand you and your time magic. Or are you just trying to come up with some reason why I got Amaterasu more followers than you've gained Chronos."
The besties rivalry reignited Jane forgot about the odd sensation she had and said "Oh you think numbers are all that matters? My followers are more devoted, heck they are making a proper shrine instead of a bunch of small tributes. After that our contest will truly begin!"
Setsuna chuckled "Maybe I'll have to swap your family's souls with toads again."
Jane not being as happy muttered "I thought we'd not speak of that again..."
"Just a little teasing, so uptight sometimes."
"Yeah, well while we're technically competing we do have each other for support." The two left in their attempts to get more followers. Their whole existence being devoted to their gods who gave them such strong powers.
